I noticed that John Shepards 8sec Eclipse has the all wheel drive unit welded for equal 50-50 power distribution to the front and rear. Has ANYONE else tried this. IF it improves drivetrain strength without reducing driveability drastically i would probally do this! I just dont want to have it done if it causes premature wear. Im sure it will cause slight binding around sharp corners but im not concerned much about that.
any input much appreciated.
thanks.

If your car sees mostly street time it's probably best that you don't force a permanent 50/50 split. Per Jon @ TRE.

I've got a welded center diff in my car. You don't notice anything until you start trying to maneuver in parking lots. It gets a little annoying, but still very tolerable.

Who did this mod for you and what does it require or cost???
thanks

When I dynoed my Talon I swapped in a welded center diff.

I drove it around the block and I didn't like the way it felt.

As far as making your car a FWD whenever you want.....I don't think its quite as simple as that. You would have to drop the transfer case and driveshaft. Unless I am missing something.

where'd you get a selectable transfer case at? i would love to have that. and what exactly is the center diff.? cause i snapped my driveshaft and i have to get a new one any way and i would love to know what the hell it is. and is the vicious coupling eliminater the same thing as whatever you all are talking about? heres a link to it http://www.machv.com/viscoupel.html
