Hey i was looking around im not seeing alot of options for short shifters, what one would you guys who have short shifters recommend?

GOOD LUCK!!! I own a 90 and the only things I've found is cutting up you stocker and re-welding it. That's probably you're easiest option for a short shifter. You might be able to switch shifter plates and shifters from a 91-94. This would be a more difficult task, but might be possible Pilot makes a short shifter for those years. Don't be fooled and think it will work for yours. I bought the Pilot one. The instructions say its for a 89-94 eclipse. I got my shifter all apart and then the short shifter didn't fit. I could've possibly done some trimming on the Pilot shifter, but I didn't feel like possibly messing up and being out around $100. I returned it and got some guages I was needing anyway. I have helped my 90 however. I have the symborski shift kit, BG synchroshift in the transmission, and I have a GReddy heavy-weight shift knob. The weight of the shift knob helps alot. I also have the Extreme Motorsports stiff shift kit but haven't installed it yet. I'm trying to get rid of any excess slack in the shifting assembly. Sorry for such a long post, but I've looked into the topic before and thought I'd throw you a bone.

p.s. There's one other option. You can keep your eye's peeled for the Mofugas Short Shifter. I believe it was made for the GVR4 but will work for us 1990s. The only problem is they aren't made anymore, and finding a used one is a very very rare find.

how hard would it be to change the shifter assembly into a 91+? i would rather change to a 91+ shifter and then put a short shifter in it that is made for it so its done right.

Well Eric,
that's going to require more technical knowledge than I posses. I'd try talking to a moderator or a guru that frequents these boards. If you do come across someone who knows how, and has done it before please let me know because I'd be interested too. I've currently given up on the short shifter mod for now. I couldn't be happier with my simple setup that I have right now. Good luck.

i heard that both the pacesetter and the obx don't have "stops" and by using them you can "overshift" your transmission.

I am looking for a shortshifter for my 93 and I really want one but I have just heard bad things about the pacesetter and obx and I wouldn't want to risk losing my transmission over a shorter throw.

that guy said thoser say there for a 90 but they dont fit cause the 90 shifters are diff froma 91+
