Columbus,
I've been reading up on some horror stories of exploding flywheels. My question is: how important do people think a scattershield is once you get around the 400 HP level? I was at 395 this year but should be significantly higher next year and I've currently got my motor and tranny out of the car so this would be easy to do. I'm going to run the new ACT flywheel also which is a little unproven only because its new but I thought better safe than sorry. I guess what I'm having a hard time understanding is: If an exploding flywheel is strong enough to rip through a bellousing and a firewall, is a scattershield really going to block it? Has anyone ever had a flywheel expode with a scattershield and have it hold it? Maybe I'm underestimating the SS strength compared to the bellhousing, it just looks a little thin.
