tried a screwdriver and riped the boot, a crap load of goop came out, so I ripped the boot off. That thing looks really wierd man. it has like 3 ball bearing things. Cool. I still didn't get the thing out of the trans. I will try a prybar next. my question is, What should I do about the boot on the end of the axle? can I just replace the boot? and what type of fluid is that crap? thanks.

so I pryed the, is it called halfshaft out of the trans, the thing connecting the axle to the transmission on the passenger side. Oh by the way if u can't tell this is my fist clutch job. =) anyway on the end that looks like a gear, that was in the transaxle, there is a metal ring around the end, this ring looks like it don't fit to well, is this play normal? or should it fit more snug? just trying to put together a list of things to replace (that I broke)

Bro, the boot needs to be replaced, as far as the ring on the end of the gear, a.k.a.CIRCLIP, it should have play to it so dont sweat that.
By the way tough one about that boot. Oh well, shit happens. Just make sure you replace it.

next time you attempt to pull the axle just get a little wedge or chissle and tap it inbetween the tranny and axle cup and it will pop right loose. my first time was a bi*** too, use the wedge to pop it loose next time so you dont tear it up and you'll be able to pull it out easily

Just A couple of weeks I was working on the same thing I had removed the components from the passenger side wheel well then had my brother pull on the axle from the side while I pryed it at the bottom after 5 minutes It came out and my brother flew back didnt even break the seal in the tranny now youve already ruined the axle boot so grab a screwdriver and pry the boot off the fiting that gos accually into the tranny dont worry about it youll be able to pull the axle off without the end attached then just pull the tranny with it still on then get it off when the tranny is out a lot easier you can get at it from any angle when the trannys out
