How expensive/difficult is it to change a 1g gsx/tsi from auto to 5-speed. I have found about four gsx's or tsi's that i want to buy and are cheap, but are all auto. Will it be too expensive to change trans type.

Good luck. My buddy did it on his talon. He knows what he is doing. He traded old parts for the new MT parts. There are a ton of parts to get.

Transmission
Transfer Case
Rear end (pumpkin, diff, whatever)
Top trans mount "shoe" (cast aluminum piece)
Rear trans bracket
Flywheel (be sure that you get AWD flywheel for AWD car; there IS a difference)
Flywheel bolts
Clutch (your choice)
Pressure plate bolts
Engine/trans separator plate
Clutch Slave Cylinder
Clutch Slave Cylinder Bolts
Clutch Line (braided stainless piece from RRE)
Clutch Master Cylinder
Clutch Master Cylinder Resevoir Cup
Clutch Pedal Assembly
Brake Pedal Assembly
Shifter Cables
Shifter Assembly
Dave Symborski Shift Kit (from Machv.com)
Shift Boot
Shift Knob
Front Axles
Section of backup light harness from MT donor car
MT Starter
MT Speedometer Sensor

Good luck

I'm about to do it, have all parts coming from one guy. I roughly got everything for about $1000, but I plan on the B&M Shifter, stiff bushings, and a few other things. Will probably bring it up to $1300, and that is not bad. You figure if you were to buy a higher stall torque converter that would be about a grand.
