No matter how hard I try it wont shift to reverse not even with the car turned off, any other gear slides in easily, My clutch pedal was low to the floor in order to shift cause it needed a Clutch Master Cylinder but even like this it used to shift reverse no grinding at all, so i figure thats what my problem was, so I replaced the Clutch Master cylinder, tighten the linkage, replace tranny fluid, check for leaks and still It wont shift into reverse, it's kinda weird, not even with the car turned off what to do now...?

the thing is that how come all of a sudden only the reverse shift went bad without giving any previous problems...?

Ya stumped me man... thats pretty crazy. Does it sound like something internal... in the tranny... or maybe it could be the linkage either under your stick or on top of the tranny. If you can get to it, try to shift it into reverse by you pushing on the rods on the tranny... your stick has two axis's.. side to side and front and back.. figure out if the tranny linkage is pushed up and over to get into reverse or down and over(or whatever) and then push in the slave cylinder with your finger (bottom front of the tranny) and try to shift it like that. I just took out my engine so i could play with the linkage so i don't remember if it's impossible to get to it... just a suggestion. let us know what happens.

Yeah.. I try all this and some other options and no good news, so I guess I have to take down my tranny and rebuild the reverse fork, or whatever it turns to be wrong with it... thanks for the help though...

Does anyone knows a VFAQ on this...? other than vfaq.com

Update... It works now...!

The most wierd think happen, I checked every possible think that could happen to the reverse before any tear apart, Replaced Clutch master cylinder, bleed ferever, check all lines for leaks, Check the pedal adjustment, linkage, everything, I was like well time for new tranny, last thing I did was checking the Tranny fluid, last time I change it I only use 2 qts, instead of 2.3 qts, so I fill it all the way, drove it for a few miles to make sure the lub run trough the internals, and nothing, still no reverse, and yes even with the engine off... next day, I get up early, head to work, and the reverse was working Fine, like nothing happen, I had the darn thing not working for like 3 weeks, and all of a sudden it decided to go back to normal functioning, no grinding at all, nothing... just worked fine, and it has been ever since... Weird ain't it...?
Yeah I thought too that the fluid did the trick, but explain to me this, how come reverse went dead without .3 qts of Gear Oil...?, I've always knew that It wasn't the linkage, or clutch, or Clutch M-Cyl, or the tranny itself, but never figured out why or how this happen,
In fact I've known a bunch of guys that used their cars with minimal GearOil and like 4 diferent brands mixed togheter and trannys working fine, I just don't get it, but in the mean time I'm a happy DSM'er Again...
