Im putting my car back together from a clutch swap and im trying to get the drivers axle back in the tranny. There is the bearing on it with the two bolt holes. I bolt those in and the axle will not go all the way in the tranny. I tried cranking the pulley like this and the axel did not spin, so its not connecting. The axle is painted black it looks like except for the end near the splines where it is polished, there is about a 1/4 inch of polished axle sticking out from the seal now, where as when i took it out it was flush. I have to go to the track wednesday and i need help asap! It seems like the axle is too short now, but thats impossible. I tried prying the bearing away from the cv joint but that didnt do anything. Can anyone help?!!

Are you sure you're putting the drivers side axle on the driver side? I had them switched once and it wouldn't go all the way in.

Yeah im sure, i never even removed it from the hub. I have the tranny all bolted on and mounted too. It just seems like it is perfectly in place.

hmm, is the order of operation to bolt the carrier bearing on first > then put the axle into the tranny? or put the axle back in first > then the carrier bearing? Sorry i'm not much help dude. GL.

Hi,

I think you are suppose to insert the front driver side drive axle into the transmission, lightly tap it with a rubber hammer to get it completly in, then bolt the carrier bearing for the front drive axle to the frame. I am not 100 percent sure I remember this corectly, but I am 99.99% sure becsaue to take it out, you have to unbolt it, lightly tap it with a rubber hammer to get it out and then just slide it out, so install would be the opposite of removal.
