Is it time to junk my ACT2100 for a ACT2600?

I replaced the stock clutch in my car back on 4/02/01 with a ACT2100. The clutch works fine as it is, but I will be pulling the engine and transmission next week or so and I didn't want to goto all the trouble of upgrading later. I really do not need to upgrade, but I don't want this 2100 clutch going out soon. The clutch has never been too a track and has only been launched about 5 times at 4000rpm max. I have not noticed this clutch slipping at all. What do you think? Does it sound like it might be time for a new clutch or will I be okay for maybe another year or so with a few track runs? I know this is a hard question to ask, but I really can't decide myself. Thanks in advance :)

If the car will be used at the track, you want to increase power, do any real power mods to the car; junk the ACT 2100 and go with the ACT 2600. AWD is harder on the clutch than FWD when launching and you will want the grip of the ACT 2600.

Thanks! I know that much though. Do you have any idea how much life I can expect out of this clutch though? If it will last me a good nother year, I don't want to touch it till then. Thanks again :)

It will definately last another year as long as you are not abusing it on the street/track. If you start launching the car or getting carried away with some spirited driving you will take significant time off the length of the clutch with your AWD. I would say take it easy and start modding and then replace it next year when you will need it.

Cool, that is what I wanted to hear. Thanks

I have the stock clutch in my car. And not a new stock clutch, it's the original one with 82k miles on it. It's an AWD and I launch at 5500 rpm's. I've been to the dragstrip 5 times this year, making 6 or 7 passes each time. I consistantly pull 1.7 60 ft times running low 12's. With all the things that the 2600lb could break (axles, trans, diffs, and then there's crankwalk) there's no way I could justify putting one in my car to maybe pick up an extra .1 sec on my 60 ft times. I'll be content with my 1.7's all day long.

Most people would agree that the ACT 2600 is the best clutch for a modified AWD car that is track bound.

Anyone should

I would take apart a car with my tooth brush just to put a ACT2600 in another car.

I love mine, swear by it and never see my self thinking otherwise. Its a great clutch.

139,000 on my 95 gsx and it loves those 5,ooo rpm drops. :)
