Well i am still fighting to try and fix my car. I have finaly found out what my problem was. After checked the transfer case and it being fine and the tranny and it being fine i checked the 4 bolt rear end i have and it turns out the 4 bolt rear end is off an auto so it is geared diffrent. Well my question is does any one know if it would be possible to pull out the gears from it and replace it with gears from a MT 3 bolt rear end? the mt 3 bolt and 4 bolt have the same gear ratios and all. Any help would be great my car has been off the road for over a month now and i am going through withdrawl it sucks.

If you have the 3 bolt I would say "go for it" I would have done it.

Ive personaly never dug into the pumkin of a DSM but have on plenty of other cars. If your up to it try it. You cars been down for a month. Trial & error always seem to work nice. :)

Hope I helped.

Or just swap back to the 3 bolt if you have the parts.

I have 2 3 bolts at my house. I guess i will just have to try and see if it works if not then i dunno. I don't want another 3 bolt in my car in less then one year i have gone through 3 rear axels on a 3 bolt rear end.

I know the front and rear final drive need to be the same. The only thing i havn't tried yet and i will probly end up trying to do is see if i can pull the gears out of the 4 bolt and put the ones from my mt 3 bolt into it. I don' tknow if it will work or not but its worth a shot if not then i will a AT 4 bolt rear end for sale. Yea the welded center diff is out of the car in favor of a normal center diff.
