I'm sure this has been asked before, but i checked all over and can't find it on this site. I blew my FWD turbo tranny out of my 95 tsi...and i know its gonna cost me like a grand to get back on the road...but is it much more to run the AWD setup into my car? I can get the parts, and all, from a stock GSX, but will it work, and is it worth it? please help! if its not worth it, where could I find the cheapest tranny to put in my car ASAP? thanks very much.

yes u can convert ur car to awd, and no it is not worth it by a long shot, u could sell ur car and buy an awd and u would end up spending considerably less then if u were to convert urs to awd, it involves alot of labor(which will cost a few thousand if u dont do it urself) and u will need an entire gsx, the whole back half and a few other parts, its not cost effective at all and ur car will be off the road for a good amount of time
as for a fwd trans, expect to pay about $950 for a used one(over 2k for a new one), fwd 2g trannys are hard to come by, ur best bet in finding one is finding someone parting out a gst spider thats either rolled or has a blown motor, as for where to get one, all i can say is good luck, i dont know what part of the country u live in but u should check ur local junk yards for fwd 2nd gens that still have the tranny, if u live on the east coast extreme motorsports might be able to find u one, they came up with 2 for my friend about a month ago when my friend blew his but they werent easy to find

I paid 1200 for a new rebuilt tranny.
