Evo tranny swap

If the evo uses a 4g63 engine is it possible to swap the tranny from an evo to a dsm, mainly the new 6 speeds they use now?

As you probably already know, it says "engine: 4g63" and "transmission: 6 speed" I want that in my car. How do I do it?

I went to the Mitsubishi website for the evo, it looks like the engine is on the other side of the car. Why would they do this. There must be a way to put that tranny in my car.

It will fit in the trunk, in the back seat on either side, or in the passenger's seat.

It will not fit in place of your current transmission.

The "4g63" designation is extremely misleading to the uninformed. It's a family designation that refers to a series of engines that have been in production for the best part of twenty years now. They share similar basic dimensions and geometry, but that's really about it.

I'v heard of ppl putting evo engines in galants. IS this diff?

The only tranny's that look like they might fit are from the evo1, evo2, or evo3! From the evo4 and on they flipped it over to the other side...

Thanks, I will look into this. I was thinkin maybe evo trannys are stronger, but I don't really know.

it will not work. if you try and bolt it on the transfer case will point out the front bumper. and no none of the internals will work. niether will evo big brakes. (they work for 3g's though). nothing on the evo8 is useable. (dont know about the interior yet).

well... evo IV+ motors are the same as our lil eclipses but a transversely mounted and have way different heads and belt setups. so trannys will not fit on our lil cars. but you can use the pistons and rods. that about it. my eclipse has an evo III tranny on it because evos I-III are basically beefed up galant vr-4s which we all know are pretty compateble to our dsms. evo trannys are way better. the new evo VIII trannys are so nice... i wish i could have one. double syncro 1st to 2nd and 2nd to third and tripple on from there. but i dont get why they double syncro reverse. rally stuff i guess like if the spin and need to get into revers while movin but i dunno

but if you want a evo tranny you can get an evo III tranny and they are aloit beefier but i am still gettin a lil grind form 1st to 2nd so i am lookin into gettin a duel syncro setup in it

i would also like to know about doin whole swap of the engine though too and how possible that mught be... ill have to look into it a lil, never have.
