Is it an AWD tranny??

Anyways>>

I recently pulled apart my AWD tranny(1G)>>it sucks!

Don't think it just easily pulls apart. EVERYTHING is linked together inside the tranny. I had to pop off the end cover and pull the VC out of the tranny, remove the gears on the end...and a few other things(basically dismantling the whole thing)...then it finally pulled apart.

And all I was trying to do was pull the center diff out.

The bellhousing itself will not be quick and easy to remove.

Good luck! :D

Jason.

In order for you to take the bellhousing off you have to start to dissassemble the trans from the 5 gear assembly cover. Remove the two 36mm nuts, take the snap ring off the viscous coupling, punch the roll pin out of the shift fork, remove the 5 gear assembly, the counter gear, the detent springs and balls, and the viscous coupling. Now you will be able to remove the bearing housing, pull out the center diff and then you can remove the center support. Then remove the main, intermediate, and pto output shaft gear and the front diff. Be careful not to lose or mix up the shims for the front diff or the shims behind the bearing races. If you replace any synchros, gears, bearings, or If you are replacing the bellhousing for some reason make sure to check the new preloads on the bearings, if you dont you could burn the bearings up or destroy gears, synchros as well as other expensive parts.
