Hey everyone i just got an act2600 clutch put in my 1990 gst, it was running fine for awhile today then out of no where it grinded and dont want to go into reverse and when i try to put it into a gear it is very hard and i hafto force it into gear??? will someone please reply to what can be wrong i am very mad being i just spent so much money and this happend? thanks in advanced everyone who replys

thanks for replying, it is filled, i just took it for a test drive around the block and when i went to put it in first gear it griding really bad then when i went to let out the clutch it started shaking? i held the clutch to the floor and pushed the gas and i started going as if i let the clutch out but it was to the floor and i was able to push the gas and go in first gear with the clutch all the way down ??? maybe something needs to be adjusted? please help anyone?

well i just started my car and when i turn the key on it makes a quick grind noise and stops then if u listen by the tranny it sounds like something is in there rattling around inside or something?? Will someone please help me with this problem any one please??????????

Assuming youv'e checked all the fluids, and you have verifed that the slave is pushing the clutch fork. You could have snapped your pivot ball under your clutch fork! Get down under the car and pull the rubber dust cover out of the way and look up in the bell housing through the clutch fork hole with a flash light. Then see if you can move the fork up and down in the hole through the housing. If it moves up or down all the way to the transmission case your pivot ball is most likely snapped. Usually you can tell right away because your slave cylnder push rod will be pusing at an angle.

Also, if you are hearing any stange noises coming from the bell housing maybe your throwout bearing is or has seperated. I use the stock throwout bearing with the plastic sleeve and sometimes if you downshift with HIGH rpm aggresively it will melt the plastic and disentigrate the bearing.

In fact one time my pivot ball snaped and then caused the throwout to fail.

Hey, thanks for replying. i went out just now under the car and checked and i tried to move that thing up and it wouldent go, it will go side to side but i cannot push it up as if i were trying to push it through that hole. sorry im not to good with all this stuff with trannies and clutches. do you think it is the throw out bearing or something i thought maybe something needed to be adjusted? i cannot even put it in any gear now because it will not go any more information will be appreciated thank you.:thumb:

1) Did you mess with your shift linkage, or is something obstructing it? I had an overfill line fall between my intake piping and shift linkage and it keep me from shifting correctly.

2) Can you have somebody repeatedly push the clutch to the floor with out the car running, while you are under there looking at the slave and fork to see if it indeed has horizontal travel. It should move about 3/4 to 1 inch.

3) Did you put a new throwout bearing in with the new clutch? The 2600 puts a lot of stress on that bearing.

4) Unless you broke something in the actual transmission , and since you didn't notice any wierd angle on the slave and clutch fork, and since you are hearing a metalic noise, I would say its probably your throwout bearing.

If you've checked everything external, and you still cant get it in gear then the best thing to do is take the tranny off and inspect it. Hopefully its a fried throwout. Also while your in there you should put a washer underneath the pivot ball, this will give you a little more fork travel.

Hey, nothing is in the way i checked for that already, i didnt mess with the linkage or anything like that either but i am having it taken to a guy tomorrow that is going to check it out so i hope it is just something minor maybe the throw out bearing like you were saying. i will post what the outcome was tomorrow night probably thanks for the replys and help!:thumb:

I have that problem, took it to a DSM guy and he told its either the flywheel wasn't cut right, the clutch came with wrong through-out bearing. I bleed the clutch and now I notice the clutch is starting to slip(1200miles on clutch)

Could be the flywheel. Could be your slave is over pumped. If you keep driving like that its going to f'up your flywheel and clutch. I had a slave that wouldn't bleed down all the way, only partially. So it would keep pressure on the fork which would keep pressure on the clutch which would cause slipping when your foot is off the clutch, then when you push in the clutch the fork would move less than a 1/2". This allows you to shift great, without grinding, but you have tons of slippage. Check this stuff first!
