I will be ordering a bmtranny lsd soon and I need a link to a site that shows how to install a bmtranny/phantom grip style lsd. I need this to show to the transmission shop. They have quoted about $300 to install a quaife but they don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to this type of lsd. Considering I'm about to have a new clutch put in at the same time it just doesn't seem like it should cost me an ADDITIONAL $300 to install this when the tranny is already off. So anyway, if somebody knows of a link please post it, Thanks.

Man, if they don't have a clue then maybe you shouldn't be putting your trust in their work! That is a pre-emptive warning.

They have installed quaife type differentials, the guy on the phone just didn't get what I was saying about this type of lsd. Thanks for the feedback, but all I am looking for is a link, not an opinion on where I should take it.

Do you know the many horror stories that come w/ the bm and phantom lsd inserts? Do a search and you'll find lots of them slip the pin out and blow a hole in the bell housing. :|

The reason why they are charging extra for installing the bm tranny style lsd is because they have to take the transmission apart to get to the stock open differential and add on the bm lsd. When changing the clutch you only have to take off the transmission and put on the new clutch, so it would take less work. When changing clutch, you dont have to take the transmission apart to work on the clutch. You only have to take off the transmission. Do you see why they charge extra now?

I put one of these in my probe tranny - www.jeffjeske.com/grip1.html

It ended up breaking my tranny pin and trashing the tranny case.

I dont recommend it especially for $300!!!! It only takes an hour to do.
