does anyone here run a fidanza or any other super-light flywheel? Im looking at a 9 pound model for a cheap price, just wondering how they really are on the street, the guy I know who's selling it did about 100 miles on it, then said it was a bi*** to drive and put the stocker back... but he's a known p*ssy, so...

anyone?
thanks :laser:

I've got a fidanza on my laser & it works just fine. Revs up really fast & slows you down fast when you let the gas go to slow down. I only got 2 quirks with it:
1. When you start your engine, it spins the starter for a few seconds before it disengages from it.
2. Your revs drop twice as fast when you shift so you need to shift a lot quicker then usual.

Peace Out,
Saber!...!...!
:)

I just got my ACT2600 and Findanza in yesterday. :D

I love them, but have yet to beat on it........

I also have a Fidanza aluminum flywheel (9.5 pound I think. there is only 1 I belive) and an ACT 2600 Clutch. I have had everything installed for about 6 months or so. I don't have the starter problem Saber is speaking of. I have no complaints at all. The car took SLIGHTLY more effort to get rolling when I first installed it. Meaning I had to give it a little more gas or slip the clutch SLIGHTLY more, but I belive it was due to the new ACT 2600 clutch (Very grabby) that I also installed at the same time. I either got used to it in 2 days or it went away. However if things had stayed the same as when I first installed everything, I still would have no complaints. Some people say that you may experiance a little trouble while lugging the engine at idle through a parking lot, but I have had no such problem. I love it and would advise anyone with a 5 speed to get one. Just my .02

I have heard that you tend to lose low end torque by using one, but it revs faster so you can get to peak RPM faster so I guess its a trade off, but I dont think I would get one, just because I tend to like my torque

no, its 540 canadian... 450 US is like 2 million canadian, LOL
actually, 450 US x 1.5 = 675 CD
then, our crappy government adds another 16% at the border, add in shipping and broker fees.....its like close to 800 in the end.
so it ends up being cheaper from the group purchase. Just a suggestion.

I had a 7lbs Clutch masters and there diffinetly are some differences. Mine didn't like to stay running when first starting, like to shut off/ stutter when coming off high revs, seem to take longer to build boost ( load) and didn't seem to like to get off the line really hard. revved fast as shit though..................

boosted59, did you ever fix the problem with the clutch master unit? i was looking at the cluthmaster unit, do you recomend it. i will be using my car as a daily driver with the occasional back road run.

I loved the Clutchmasters flywheel. I turned the idle up alittle so it would stay running and the car idle at about 600rpm and sounded sweet. And you'd have to be runnin' it pretty hard and just stop for it to shut off. I wish I could still use it but it needs a new ring gear and surface so I'm in the process of trying to find the parts to fix it.

I wil be putting one in my car on Tuesday along with a GVR4 gear, that will cut my 0-60 times by a lot.

I got mine for $200, the face was scared and one of the alignment rods (Those metal dealys that hold the clucth in place, there are 6) was gone. SO I called up Fidanza and told him that I had to pull it out and that it was messed up and I spent a lot of money. No problem, sent it to him, he put on a new heat sheild FOR FREE and speced it out to .610 exactly and even gave me a sheep from the measure ment, he also fixt that metal piece and sent it back to me, all for free.

Fidanza has excelent customer service, just buy a fuct up use one and they will fix it, mine was actually only a 1000 miles on it, but he really abused it.

Did you feel a differenc with the pull from a roll? Was with VERY notacable?

How long to you think a Fidanaza will last with normal driving, with a couple launchs a month?

I have the fidanza. Differences are most noticeable during deceleration as opposed to acceleration. I have no complaints about the flywheel, however I paid nothing for it since it came off a friends totaled GST. I believe it only had 1200 miles on it. My brother is about to upgrade to an ACT 2600 on his AWD and I don't believe he's adding the flywheel to the install. It is quite an expensive mod for the amount of benefit.

i got mine for 340 new but i wanted it rate awayso i spent 40 bucks to get it overnighted from the factory.

Hey anyone having "problems" with the starter not disengageing soon enough, what brand starters do you have? I have a bosch and it gets spun to hell unless you just put the keys to start for under 1/2 a second.

i got my Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel for only 250 brand new. im still decidint if i should get a new clutch before i install it though. i have an oem one with about 3k miles on it

i have a fidanza. i didnt notice much of a seat of the pants power gain, if any at all. the car does buck a little going slow around parking lots, a little clutch finesse is all it takes to get rid of it though.

one thing very important about an upgraded aluminum fly though. if you are on the low 12/11 sec barrier as i am, it is almost a MUST that you get one. the stock flywheel can, and eventually will, shatter at this power level, destroying almost everything in the engine bay... and maybe you. if your goal is 11 sec timeslips, get an aluminum flywheel and a scatter shield.
