I had a new clutch put in today. About 6 hours later, when I was accelerating (not dumping the clutch or anything stupid) under normal conditions...I just felt the clutch completely go at around 5000 rpms.
I coasted into a gas station and I put it into gear (reverse wont work either) and the car just makes this grinding noise like the clutch has not engaged and it just doesn't go anywhere. There was some fluid underneath, not sure what it was.
Throughout the day, on small dips or whatnot, I would hear something kinda like something underneath the car was hitting the road. This was a brand new clutch and not even 6 hours old. I baby the car and have never dumped the clutch or whatnot, it's not used for racing.
Any ideas what the problem could be? Is this something I could hold the mechanic liable for? I'll be bringing it back to him on Monday, but I really would love to know what's going on.
Is it possible the clutch just completely broke? Could the mechanic have made a mistake that could have caused this? Is it possible that the transmission "dropped" or whatever?
