2G Transfer Case splines?

I am looking for a donor Tranny for an AWD 5 speed, a 97'. I have one lined up but heard something about 21,22, or 23 spline transfer case. Anyone that can shed some light on this please do so. Also does it matter what year the tranny comes from?? Thanks in advance.

The 90 and early 91’s use a 22 spline output shaft. After that all are 23 spline so as long as the donor is older than 91 you should be ok.
