Gallant VR4 trans in 95 GSX

So, I got this VR4 transmission from a friend of mine, to replace the one in my 95 GSX that I broke a couple weeks ago... I was told that the swap should be straightforward, but I'm noticing that none of the transmission mounts will bolt to the VR4 transmission. These are both 5 speed. The VR4 transmission is switchable FWD/AWD. Can I get VR4 mounts, and will they fit the GSX mounting points, or how should I go about mounting the transmission?

GVR4 JDM Switchable trannies are direct fit in 1g vehicles. So whatever it would take to put a 1g tranny into 2g would apply. I know 2g trannies have been put in 1gs with some modification.

You need to have the front part of the trans (the bellhousing) swapped from your 2g for the mounting points to work. I'm not familiar with the "switchable" trans, but that's what it takes to put a 1g in a 2g.

Cool. That's sorta what I thought would need to happen... Off to it then. Thanks.

I probably should have thought of this before... but the final gear on the VR4... is it different than the final gear on the GSX?

-edit-

Yep, I shoulda known. Different ratios. Damn Damn Damn. So... I have a '91 VR4 transmission. Anybody have a good '95 GSX tranny in the northern california area that wants to trade?

Or maybe a VR4 Rear Diff?

-edit again-

Alright, so I just finished emailing John Shepard, and figured out what my problem was. My shop manuals (dsm backup cd) for the transmission are for a '97-'99, which has different ratios than the '89-96 did. So, it was messing me all up. The Galant VR4 transmission will not bolt to my engine mounts without a bellhousing swap, but the gear ratios in the transmission differentials are the same final drive ratios as the transmission in the 95 and 96 2G as well as all the 1G AWDs. So, now I just gotta put my bellhousing on the VR4 transmission, and I will be all set.

*whew* what a pain.
