If I am keeping a talon tsi awd totally stock, and I plan to sell it, so I want to be cheap, would this replacement disc work ok.

AISIN Clutch Disc Direct Fit OE Replacement

It's under $60. Cheap and easy. I just don't want to put in something that will be total junk. I'm not trying to scam anyone... But if it is a OE replacement... it should work as long as they don't choose to do any upgrading...

Any thoughts?

ebay xtd clutch and pressure plate.. like 120 bucks and it will be a pretty good selling point..

That clutch will work perfectly fine. However, you would be doing the next owner a disservice by not replacing the throw-out bearing at the same time. For that it is important you use an OEM unit. If you did not run the clutch down to the rivets, you will be OK just roughing up your pressure plate and flywheel with a little bit of sandpaper.

I hope it's ok. Just got it at an auction. didn't even notice it until I got on the freeway and tried accelerating fast on the on-ramp, so I'm sure it's not that bad. Probably wouldn't have noticed it for a month if I had only driven around town...

I'll look around for a cheap throwout bearing...

A cheap throw-out bearing is fine, but it has to be an OEM unit. There have been several catastrophic failures of aftermarket TOB's on these cars, which have caused anything from shattered clutches, to cracks in the bellhousing. There are very few parts I recommend buying from Mitsubishi - this is one of those few.

see gijoe, when you were telling us about how much you were going to bid, everyone was telling you to be careful how much you pay for it, and this is a prime example to all the others that look to buy one. THERE ARE ALWAYS, AND I REPEAT, ALWAYS HIDDEN COSTS WHEN YOU BUY A DSM. i know you want to get the most money out of it, but what happens if you put a 100.00 clutch in it, and you either decide to keep it or you cant sell it right away. then you decide to drive it. then you are setting yourself up for a possible future headache. do it right with all the right parts. you will not regret it. and good luck

I think one of the factors that everyone else isn't aware of is the value of these cars in WA. I bought a GSX, same year a year ago. $1500 with a blown tranny, clutch, rear window, side window, valve cover, etc... I turned it over for a $2300 profit... Or more? Tranny was a weekend job, got the glass from a junkyard, and I sold it to a college kid for $4800, and he was really happy with the price.

Maybe the moral of the story, if you ever want to sell your DSM do it in WA. I barely see them listed for less than twice KBB...

That's pretty crazy - you can get 2G AWD's for $2K all day in Indiana. 1G's are a bit higher... around $2800.

Hmm, you hardly ever find a 1g for less than a 2g here... And though I haven't seen any lately, I remember when I first started looking into DSMs a few ears ago, I could happen upon 1g projects (AWDs) for 1k. But never a 2g... I know other people on the 3si.org forum have firmly agreed with me that WA is much more pricier than other areas. I am seriously starting to consider importing tuner cars into WA. 4k for an AWD 2g is a cakewalk...
