I have a 1990 Eagle Talon, FWD, non-turbo 2.0 DOHC. I was recently driving and in the middle of driving down a road the car just would not move. Had to get it towed. The car will start up and idle perfectly, but when i put it in gear and release the clutch, nothing happens, the car will not move. There is a thick gooey metallic black fluid dripping from what seems like between the engine and tranny. The car will start up, idle, and rev up as it always did, it just almost seems like the clutch wont engage. Its like trying to drive with the clutch pushed in the whole time, it just wont go anywhere, but I am releasing the clutch. Whats the problem here? Whats this thick metallic black fluid dripping out? Its leaked probably a quart or two already. Is it burnt tranny or clutch fluid? Or motor oil? im lost on this one.
Oh yeah, and the clutch is fairly new and didnt show any signs of wear or weakness prior to this, but some bolts on the transmission had fell out a week or two ago and i replaced them, and they are still tightly locked in there.
Im thinking about replacing the entire tranny anyway with a salvage yard tranny. What kind of cars have interchangeable trannys? Or do i have to get one from a 1990 2.0 DOHC non turbo? Plus, anyone know of any good junk yards in the North NJ area? Thanks a lot.
