shift kit or manual conversion+1/4mile times

what would be better for the money and the speed getting a level 10 kit and better tourque converter or converting to a manual?and with the level 10 and a shift kit and better torque converter would a auto be faster than a manual?in stock form what is 1/4 time and 0-60 time in a manual and auto for a 2nd gen dsm

everyone say auto are around 1 sec slower 1/4 time so if i were to have that stuff done to my auto would it be faster than a manual?

If this is a true 1/4 mile machine auto will be the best. Building boost at the line is easier and it is FAR more consistant than stick.

I can't speak for products made by other companies, but I have seen impressive gains in my customers' cars with the installation of a customized converter. A shift improvement kit is usually a good modification to a trans, but normally won't make you any faster (any gains that would be visible on a time slip anyway). The important part of converter selection is the information about your car that you must provide to whom ever is building the unit for you. Many companies sell torque converters that will "fit" your car but are not necessarily optimized for your particular combination (in business it is far cheaper to sell "one size fits all"). To get the best performance from any given vehicle with an automatic you really need a converter that's "on the money" , and that means one thats designed for your car.If you have a converter shop that doesn't ask you to fill out a detailed order form to answer questions about your car before you make your purchase- find another shop! So, to make along story short if you have an auto with the proper stuff you should be faster than a stick.
