Has anyone used a G-Force Racing Transmission? It's the same as the RWD Osofast Eclipse(damn thing makes 910 ponies!) So i'm thinking it must be a performance wise tranny. Any Suggestions? Thankz, Peace

Unless you are building a bad ass tube chassis car like Osofast or Buschur, this tranny aint for you. I have driven both the G Force and Liberty 5spd clutchless trans in 2 different Mustangs, both owners of the cars had just over $8000 in the trans, clutch and bellhousing. Bulletproof...yes Fun to drive......oh hell yeah fun to tune clutch......forget about it. Oh,btw: both owners bought their trannies used.
Both are really nice transmissions, but both are really way out of our league unless you are going the full chassis route.

Damn, sounds like you had the time of your life driving with it, but yea tuning would be a Bi*ch.. and i do planning on going all out, even if it is for street use. Oh hey, did you need a long shifter when you used either Tranny?

If you are refering to the clutchless G Force tranny, you can forget about driving it on the street. No downshifting with these trannies.
When you say "long shifter" do you mean Long engineering? Long makes the verti gate shifters for manny trans including the Jericho and G Force but I am not sure about Liberty. Liberty has what I consider the baddest of them all in the shifter department. Next time you see a NHRA pro stock car, look at the shifter. 99% chance it will say Liberty on the handle.
BTW, what are your plans for this car. I am not trying to be rude, but sounds like you are getting way over your head with a project like this. And if you do have that kind of money, how about sharing some of the wealth......LOL.

If you're planning on that much power get an adapter ( I believe they are now available ) and put in a GM TH400 or a 'glide with a trans break. Email me and I can provide details.

Certainly the cheaper, easier way in the long run. But unless you are making mad Buschur type power, go with the TH400.

A 'glide is usually quicker in a light car. I've built 'glides for many cars ranging from the 12's to the 7's and have only really seen one car that ran faster wiht a 3spd unit. It wasn't a 400 either, it was a $6,000 ultra light weight variation of a torqueflight in a comp eliminator car (plus it only ran a couple of hundreths quicker).

Yeah I guess your right. I wasn't even thinking lite cars. I am used to heavy domestics requiring lots of power to benefit from a glide.

:thumb: Good lookin out you guys, i'll hit you up with an e-mail soon about that adapter. Peace

with having the powerglide you will need a ton of torque to run it down the quarter with having only two gears where the th400 you have the xtra third gear but the tranny weighs so damn much that you lose power through the tranny just some input from my brother a hard core gm boy :thumb:

A 400 soaks up a ton more power than a glide. In some of our race cars we have determined that we were losing as little as 40 horsepower through the entire drivetrain. We set up the trans with light weight internals, use an aluminum driveshaft, and set up the rear loose for low drag. On one car weighing 2050# with a motor only making 760 flywheel HP we were able to run 8.04@167 with a 1.11 60'. The only place that 400's become appropriate are in the big "fast street car" stuff You know these classes, where they put a pro stock motor, tail lights and blinkers in a 3600# Chevelle and call it a street car. These heavy high power beasts need the strength and additional gearing of the 400.

Transdude,

What do you know about 88 RWD Mitsubishi Mighty Max truck automatic tranny? I believe that it is a Chryser unit.

I am about to pick one up and I am wondering just how far I can take that tranny.

I could be wrong, but I think that it would have an AW372 (A44D) which is a Toyota unit. If my memory serves me, the Chrysler units were not used until the 1990 model year. If you have the 'yota trans they are not bad, although I've never done a high performance build on one. I'm willing to try anything once! If you do have the Chrysler unit, they can be made pretty strong. What are your plans for the engine mods. I hope we're not going too far off topic with this thread.
