I did some calculations... it seems that with some use of the OD button you have a 5 speed:

1st: 2.551
1stOD: 1.747
2nd: 1.488
3rd: 1.000
3rdOD: .685

closer ratio if it is shifttd this way... i wish there was a way to reprogram whatever controls the tranny to have this order permanent then you coudl just have it work like this. do dsms have seperate TCUs or is it all controled by the main compueter?

cool stuff

I know what your talking about.... my car will seem to shift five times. people tell me, the last time its adjusting the timing, but i dunno. it will shift four times, and then a few seconds after the fourth shift, i feel something (like a shift) and my RPMs will drop another 500-700.

if your RPM drops its a gear. THe motor is turning at a rate which is different than gearing like a trans. You can not reduce RPM with timing, it's gearing that does it.

Sounds like you have a 5 speed (auto)

i wish some one would clear this up, the guy at the dealer said that it was a 5 speed? is there a hidden gear... im pretty sur its a 3 speed with an OD, but by manipulating the od there can be five useful gear ratios?

the automatic cars only have 4 gears the 5 speed shift you feel in your transmission is the torque converter lock-up and there is a seperate tcu on dsms. hope that helps.

ahhhh tc lock up, some one could make 250 bucks, cause if they made a replacement tcu, that shifted the trany like i laid out, and those were the progression, so all the automatic downshifting would go to the right gears.... i would buy it right now
