Hey guys,

My master cylinder crapped out, so I replaced it. (Its in a really crappy place with very limited space. If you've never had the pleasure of replacing one). Anyways, after the installation I can't seem to get the car to crank. I made sure the battery had a full charge but still a no-go. I believe it is possible that I may have goobered up the clutch switch. Any ideas?

Here's some background info:
Also, after having a shop adjust the clutch it started slipping on my way to work. Just a tad bit around 3500-4000rpms. On the way home I couldn't get the car into gear with the car running, so I cut her off for a few seconds to let everything stop rotating. I started from a dead stop in second. Just as soon as I turned it over I had to give it gas as the clutch was not disengaging. I could make the 2nd-3rd shift with no problem. So I limped her home 25 miles at 35mph.

I've got about $1500 worth of goodies coming in from Modern Performance and I'm wanting to make sure the car is in driveable condition before I toss on the mods. The good thing is I have an ACT2600 with street disk in my room and the Fidanza should be here by the middle of the week. Should I go ahead and drop the tranny to assess the damage or should I get her running first. Thanks in advance guys!

Hi,

You should try to trouble shot anything you can before you drop the tranny, its a pain man. First when you installed the new clutch master cylinder did you readjust the master cylinders push rod? If you did then you should check the clutch switch like you said.

wont even begin to turn over eh?.. I'm thinking theres a negative cable from the battery that needs to be bolted to the trans.. for some reason if that had been taken off?.. just a thought, Oh wait your talkin about the master.. i was thinking the slave ROFL .. theres that safety feature with manual cars that don't allow the engine to be started unless the clutch is pushed in and pushing that button.. just tryin to help

Care to elaborate on adjusting the pushrod? Are you referring to free play in the clutch? I don't believe the pedal is bottoming out on the floorboard.

Yeah, I am talking about adjusting the free play in the clutch. I thought it would be a good thing to check before you went through the trouble of pulling the tranny.

If you are not even getting the click (from the solenoid), then I'd be looking at the lower switch on the clutch pedal. If you are getting a click, but the car won't turn over, then I'd be looking at the power and ground to the starter.

ps. people with 7-bolts really ought to disable the lower clutch switch; no reason to do anything that could contribute to CW

I am getting the clicking noise from the solenoid. I unplugged the switch on the clutch pedal and tried again to no avail. I'm about to go back and check the starter as you have suggested. Would you mind elaborating more on the lower clutch switch and its function.

Thanks!
