Yes, I know this appears to be a ridiculous post by a retard, but heres the skinny. Of course, the flywheel refuses to come off. Heres the problem, the head is off the car, the block is on the hoist and i cant get the flywheel out of the way to put it on the stand. Why you ask?

Well, I put a ratchet in the crank sprocket and my buddy starts at the bolts (soaked in blaster) with the breaker bar, and the sprocket breaks free, not the bolts. So I tighten it up and we try again, same problem. We crack a beer and look at it for a minute and decide to pry against one of the sprocket teeth with a prybar and hit the flywheel that way, no luck there, no luck trying on the ground. Im starting to get aggravated, not mad, just aggravated, I dont care about the motor or the sprocket, Im droppin a 0 mi. long block in it, but I want the bastard on the stand to pull things off of it and later to rebuild it.

Any ideas? No I dont have access to an impact wrench either, if I did I wouldnt be posting.

use some heat (torch) and keep at it.

The bolts arent seized. I cant hold the crank in place to break them loose, Ill try some heat but Im only able to get just a little torque on the flywheel before the crank sprocket gives. Well, at least I dont think they are seized, the flywheel came off easy last time I did this, I pulled the motor to work on the bottom end, but the head, crank pulley, and timing belt were still on. I see if I cant get her figured out, Ive been trying to see if there is a hole somewhere I can stick a screwdriver in to hold it in place. But I havent been very sucessful.

Sounds like you need to use an Impact on them. That wont make the crank turn and should break them free. Be sure to loctite them upon reinstall!

Woulda already done, but I anit got one, or and aircompressor for that matter. I think I have a plan. Ill let you know how it goes this wknd.

See if you can borrow/buy/rent a flywheel holder. It will engage the teeth in the flywheel thus facilitating holding it still. Snap on has them on their trucks. Then using a good 6 point socket you can probably heft them off there.

Good Luck
