I know the 4 Bolt rear end is stronger, everybody talkes about it and I have heard many DSM people having to upgrade to the 4 Bolt rear end. However this is my question.
What year did the 4 Bolt rear end come in? How can you tell (visually) if you have a 4 Bolt or a 3 Bolt rear end?
The reason why I ask is my car is a 98 and I just assumed it has the 3 bolt as everybody says the rear end in the newer cars is not as strong as the older cars. I had my car up on the hoist the other day and just glanced at the rear end and I noticed there was 4 bolts holding the drive shaft onto the rear end. So either I'm stupid and that 3 or 4 bolt rear end has nothing to do with the number of bolts holding the drive shaft on or my car has had the rear end replaced to a 4 bolt at some time.
Somebody please enlighten me cause upto a few days ago I thought I knew what had been done to my car.
