I'm pulling my engine/tranny up out of my awd 1g. I removed the 4 bolts holding the transfer case to the transmission, but it will not seperate...I'm hesitant to pry on anything, you know how aluminum works ;)

anybody have any hints/ideas on how to pull that off??

Is it absolutely nessicary to remove it in order to lift the engine out??

Thanks for any advice! :thumb:

found the problem, there was another bolt hidden up above the xfer case for a total of 5...my HAYNES manual said there were only 4! Time to throw this PIECE OF $$&# away and get a real manual.

hope this post helps those with the haynes...
