About 3 months ago i installed a brand new ACT 2600 clutch into my 90 awd. I had the flywheel stepped acorrding to their specs and i know its correct. I installed the clutch myself and doing this is nothing new to me. I did a good 500+ mile break in.
now, recently every now and then while driving i'll get a full drivetrain vibration on the highway. the car will seem to lose power. when i shift into neutral the vibration will go away. its happened twice with in the past week. and once i stop or pull off i can smell burnt clutch. now i do drive the car hard. i pulled off the lower inspection shield and there was a lot of dust in there (the bell housing was clean when i put it back together) i had also replaced the throw out bearing, shift fork, slave cylinder, its all adjusted according the shop manual.
so i need the car to last me 2 more weeks before i can pull it apart, but does this sound like the clutch starting to go? if so, i think i'm going to go with a spec 6 puck clutch unless someone recommends otherwise (this pending after i get to inspect it.)
thanks.

Sound weird to me.. If it was step right, it should work.. Also make sure that you didn't adjust the master cylinder so that is is pushing on the pressure plate all the time. There need to be at least 1/4 of play in the pedal.

i think i have a bit too much free play, the pedal is grabbing low (at the floor) i'm gonna go back and do it all over again this weekend and then take it apart if i still get it. i found it wierd, it happens randomly. :(

Some times you just have to do that.. it really sucks, but that's the only way to work weird issues out. What did you step you flywheel at.. That does make a huge diff.

Maybe your carrier bearings?
i fully rebuilt the driveshaft, carrier bearings, yolk, universal joints, even new carrier mounts, along with the suspension right down to the bushings and fully aligned. i know its not those for sure. it would happen more often. driving around this morning i do think i'm gonna have to go and adjust my clutch again. i'm just babying for this week then i can go home to go through it.
thanks for helpin, it was just rather wierd so i figured i'd see if anyone had something similar.
