The other day I was driving and I had a prob goin into 3rd and put it in second. I thought I herd somethin snap or pop. I noticed that shifting from 1st to 2cd was very easy. Before I would feel it shifting but now it just moved was to easy with no resistance. I could not go into 3rd now.
When I got home I parked and noticed I had no neutral anymore even with the shifter in the center. It seems to be stuck in a high gear also because when I revved and let the clutch in it would just stall not move at all. I have neutral when the clutch is in so it dissengages fine and I can get it to go in to all the gears when off with the clutch in but no other gear besides first and second work even if I put it in that gear.
I am thinking that the linkage is messed up. Both ended still move on the shifter cables. I have a shep trans and race on it so I dont think daily driving broke it. Please let me know anything you think it could be. Thanks

Ok, I think i know what you are talking about. On the left shift cable there is a block thing)dont know what its called) that fits into a bracket(also not sure what you call it) that goes to the tranny. When I redid my clutch, I put it in the wrong place and when I moved through the gears with the car not running they were all shifted to the left and the only gear it seemed you could get into was 4th. Thats just an idea just check over all the linkage at the tranny and at the shifter.

Umm, the way i would do it is just go look at where the shift cables are on the tranny. Move them throught the gears and see if any thing looks broken or out of place. The other place that i would look it where the shifter is. Just take the side carpet off and take a peak. Hopefully someone who knows more then I do will come and explain this better......like defiant LOL.

I have a welded diff too, someone said it mite be possible that the weld broke and went into the trans?

Update - Looked at the car more today, appears the linkage is intact but I still dont not have a neutral unless the clutch is in. I can go into all gears when the car is off but not when its on with the clutch. I need help bad Im not sure what is wrong!!!!
