Anyone ever use SBR's LSD? I'm getting due for a clutch and was thinking about one of these for the price. I'm not a hardcore drag racer, but would love the added traction.

yeah, i'd like to know as well. also, is this all that's needed to keep both wheels spinning on a FWD eclipse?

I've got one install in my wifes fwd. It helps, it spins both wheels all the time. Can't really give a good review intill i put some really sticky tires on, cause it still spins a good bit. I'm glad I have it tho! Oyeah... it does'nt pull side to side like it use to anymore. I'll try to give more info when I get the tires.

ive just seen a handfull of reviews saying that a portion of it tends to break. there has to be some reason why its $199 and not $999

It is a INSERT. Not a true LSD like KAAZ. It is very similar to the part that bmtranny offers for $200.

Price aside. I am very interested in this piece. If people like it as much as the clutches that SBR offer, then I will deff. pick one up when I upgrade my clutch.

Pretty much the same, yeah. They lock up the factory open differential just like the Phantom Grip insert. Obviously they can fail or break with enough power or abuse. That's why real LSDs are reccomended. But from what I hear a LSD insert is worth it for the money if your not putting any serious power to the ground.

They work to a point, but they put hazardous strain on the carrier. It's not a fix, but a band aid. They are good for stock and basic bolt-ons, but if you are going to make some decent power, the KAAZ or Quaife are much better options.

i am going to put one in my laser i think her really soon i do have AWD already with the stock lsd in the back but i do alot of driven on the snow and i think this will help. but with the AWD i would not worry as much with strain on the carrier seeing you are spreading the load out.

AWD/FWD the insert goes into the same carrier so either way the carrier takes the abuse. Since you have AWD I would suggest the B&M version since it has the lighter springs. 3 out of 4 drives wheels is pretty damn good. You won't really care if one of the front wheels isn't locked since you have the 2 rear anyway. The plus side is that you aren't burdoned with wheelhop... which is what kills the carrier in the first place.

Let us know how the insert works with the AWD.. you should be damn near unstopable with some snow tires.

well i just put in my order i am going to pull the motor next weekend and do a ACT 2600 water pump balance X balance shaft kit and the lsd so we will see how it goes. i callied sbr about it. and they said that they did lots of testing to find the right spring and so on. so i trust them but we will see how it works out.

So does this insert actually put more stress on components causing them to break? Or is it basically if you break something with the insert in you are making to much power & were probably going to break something anyways even without it? So Slowboy makes their own units? (not from BM etc.).

Also what exactly do they break, is it something major? or does it break a piece that would be replaced if you bought a proper lsd?
