my clutch doesnt always get out of gear when i come to a stop. ill push the clutch down but leave it in 1st and my car will start moving forward. fluids are fine. i havent adjusted my clutch pedal yet ( has a lot of play). i think its the master Cylinder but my pops thinks its the slave. any input would be great, thanks in advance.

Well...I had the same problem..except that mine wouldn't get into gear...and it was the slave. It wasn't that bad too change either... But who knows in your case. I just want you to know that I was very happy that a $40 part could fix it as well as it did...and fast too. :thumb:

i know the slave is liek 60 and master is 110 but i dont want to buy one and have it not be the problem and end up spending near 200

I know that you can rebuild the master cylinder for the 2g at least. This is probably the case with the 1g also, I did the rebuild and I was having more of a "fluid leaking down the pushrod/fluctuating clutch adjustment" problem. The rebuild kit for a 1990 Eagle Talon AWD is $24.00 , here is the link NAPA Clutch Master Cylinder Rebuild kit they also carry a slave cylinder rebuild kit for $10 here is the link - NAPA clutch slave cylinder rebuild kit So if you decide to rebuild the parts then you will spend a grand total of $40 max. I did the rebuild on my 2g and it took about an hour and a half to take the master out, rebuild it and replace it and bleed the system. The kit was very complete with every replaceable part, the only problem you can encounter is if the walls of either cylinder were scored by foreign matter, this would require a replacement part. But if I were in your position I would do the rebuilds I mean $40 and a couple hours and you have almost a totally new clutch hydralic system. Then you can start off from a clean slate and do all of your adjustments. just my $0.02

Did you check to see if the slave or master was leaking? For the master cylinder, look under the dash where the clutch rod goes into the firewall. IIRC it's between the gas and brake pedal. Look for a wet fluid stain running down to the carpet.

To see if the slave is leaking, first find the slave cylinder. It's attached to the lower front of the tranny close to the engine block. You'll see a rod coming out of one side, and a rubber boot covering the joint between the slave body and the rod. Pull back the rubber boot. If fluid comes out, the slave is bad.

OK then don't worry about the master/slave. Do the clutch rod adjustment thing and check for excess freeplay in the pedal travel.

i got the rebuil dkits today. i figure might as well rebuild them, then do adjustment in case the adjustment isnt the problem. fun weekend ahead, rebuild master and slave, change seals in throttle body and change ac to r -134a. damn i love dsms
