I need a new clutch soon so I am shopping around and I really like this spec stage 3 clutch what do you guys think any others better out there, and do you think this will be comfortable on street?

If available, get the spec stage IIIi clutch and Fidanza flywheel combo, is should be around $700 or so for both, VERY good setup in my opinion, I have driven cars with it, and also know of others who have it. Hope that helps.

yeah i am pretty sure im going with the spec stage 3 clutch but im not sure about the flywheel it just comes wiht a steel one. Is i really worth the extra like 300$ for a lightweight flywheel will I notice a difference. Also can you send me some links to the flywheel. thanks

Also will that deff work. even though they are diff companies.

Hey yo,

Ive got the Spec IV clutch and aluminum flywheel. Cost me $900 but the guy I ordered from told me to go for the IV. I like it, the flywheel makes revs superquick. Its almost impossible to maintain rpms when trying so launching can be very difficult, wheel hop from hell on hard launch. So stiffer bushings are a need, at least if your a hard launcher. ONE VERY IMPORTANT THING ... make sure that you have the correct bolts for the flywheel because they dont send any and your stocks wont work, at least mine didnt. Might wanna confirm this with everyone else on here but my bolts were NOT long enough. I had to special order the bolts from a place in NY and they were very pricey. I asked Spec's mechanics multiple times about the fact that my bolts would not work and they kept telling me they would. If I had used my bolts I would have had one MAYBE two threads grabbing ... tell me if that sounds like enough for a flywheel??? Your going to need if I remember correctly 8 total bolts. I'll try and hunt mine down because Im not sure right now exactly what size I had to get but research this before or you will be upcreek without a paddle as I was.

Apparently the mixup with them is they think that our cars and the Neon RTs are exact on flywheel and clutch specs ... they arent ... at least as far as the bolts are concerned.

I wouldnt steer you away because the clutch is great but just cover all ground first ... I will post soon about the bolt sizes and the possibility that I may have enough left if your interested.

Peace.

I have a Spec Stage III clutch w/ an ACT streetlite flywheel and I love the clutch very streetable and grabby. I don't know how different the N/A one is though. As for the flywheel I didn't reall notice that much of a differance it got it new for $225 shipped though so it was better than "risking" re using an old resurfaced flywheel IMO.

Should i go for the stage 4 then im just worried if its going to be really super grabby and a lot of pedal pressure.

Pedal pressure isnt really any different at least I didnt notice a difference. Any performance clutch is going to be pretty grabby ... thats pretty much expected. You'll lose an amount of comfortable driveability but if you want to get more power then you have no real choice. Or you just disintegrate your stock like I did. :) And that sucks big time. The only reason I went with the IV is because the guy I ordered from ran one is his boss stang and I figured if he was happy with it in that then it would be plenty good for me in my ride. Im sure either will work for you, its just if you think you need just a tad more torque than the III gives you or not. Personal choice I guess ...

tI am all about performance so I think i might go with the 4 but does you know if one will last longer than the other. and yeah i will drive it really hard.

I had the SPEC Stage III clutch installed on my 95 TSi AWD. It lasted about 10,000 miles before it started slipping at the track. I now have 12,000 miles on the clutch and I am going to replace it. I had about 20-25 passes at the drag strip on the SPEC. It got me into the twelves.

I also was expecting this puck clutch to chatter but it really never did. People who drove my car couldn't believe it wasn't a full face street disk.

IMO its an OK clutch for 13 second AWD cars, little too short lived for cars pushing twelves or quicker that see the track. I only bought this clutch because I feared what an ACT2600 would do to my crank, and then my crank started to walk anyway.

yeah i only have a GS so when im done everything the most I will problable ever be running is high 13s so I think the stage 3 will be okay.
