Where to get a torque converter?

Hi guys!

I need an aftermarket torque converter for my friend's 95 Eclipse Turbo FWD. As I know all the shops need the core. But it'll be a real PITA to send a TC from Russia to another side of the planet. Is it possible to get a torque converter w/o sending the core? Something like the core charge instead of this?

What aftermarket torque converters would you suggest? What shops?

Any other mods for automatic transmissions? Shifht kits etc.?
