Hey guys, my friend just bought a 2000 Eclipse GT (V6). It’s an automatic/ tectonic tranny. My question is, how much WHP does it have? I think at the crank its got 205 or something like that. In a race, I'm pretty sure my dsm would take it in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd but in the long run I'm guessing he would pass me somewhere around 4th. Anyone ever raced a GT? If so let me know how it went.
 
Hey bro, I think he could take you after 1st. my buddy with his n/t with 4into1, CAI, fpr, suspension and short shifter got DESTROYED by a 4G Eclipse. Sorry to bust your balls, but that is reality:dsm:

Oh, by the way, the V6 eclipse has 200bhp. This one was auto, because I asked my buddy the details and he said it sounded like an automatic. I'm sure you know you should have got a GSX, GS-T or TSi. Still for the price of a 1999n/t, you could have got a 95' or earlier for the same price. Just my advice. Absolutely no shame in owning a n/t.

there is not a 4g yet, its 3g
the 3g cars go as follows
GST-210 at flywheel
GT-sumthing like 195 at the flywheel
GS-has a 4g64 in it and that engine has like 145 at the flywheel dont it?

as for at the wheels i dont think mitsubishi puts that out so i dunno

the 3g weighs more then the previous gens(not compairing to AWD cars)..... and no awd or turbo options...haha
 
OK. my bad and I think you know what I meant;) But I know for sure that a 3G would beat a 1989-1999 n/t, if the the two know how to drive.

Hey thanks for the input guys. I could have bought a 98’ GS-T but I already have two tickets and I’m only 17 so it didn't make much sense. I want to at least make it to my 18th b-day before I get my license suspended or wrap my car around a tree. Anyways I still love my dsm and I’d take it over a 3g any day. And maybe one day when I save up about 4 grand for a turbo and supporting mods I’ll have a shot at beating him. :D
 
Try this set up bro I can gurantee you'll beat it from 60mph to 125-130mph

Cold Air Intake
Magnacore 8.5 power cables
ngk spark plugs
stock 2.25 piping
pacesetter headers
less air restrictive muffler
apexi afc

wont run u over 550 bucks...

it will be a TIGHT race, you gotta powershift, doing it for 1 time wont hurt ur tranny if you havnt miss treated it alot. thats all i had when it was a 3 way race my rs, honda civic si, and eclipse v6 coming from palmdale . We went from st. to highway...Goodluck.... check ur engine for compression and oil before and whenever you race... trust me after.

or you can spend 3,000 on a engine swap and go way faster :shhh: :rolleyes:

There's no GST 3G. You might mean a GTS.
 
IMO the 3g eclipse is a stupid car...getting rid of the 4g63t and the AWD was a bad idea....the GTS, top modle of the 3g eclipses only does 1/4 mile at best (that I've seen) is 15.6. Compared to the GSX at 14.9, thats horrible.......I think they look stupid as well. I think the best ones were the 2G 95-96, both Eclipse and talons....looks wise...
 
I raced a 2001 Eclipse GT automatic back when I had my Probe SE (4-cylinder) with Intake,Exhaust, I pulled on the GT off the launch badly but he ran me down by 70mph. If you launch right, you will beat him for a short while. The automatic really makes them slow from a dead stop.
 
last summer i raced a 3rd gen eclipse gt with that auto tranny sh!t. i raced him with my 1 talon it was a 91 tsi awd, and i absolutely killed him. both cars were stock and i launched hard off the line and when it was all said and done i had to have him by at least 4 cars. i pulled back into where i met the kid and his buddy that was riding with him (i had one of mine with me) said that all he had time to say when the light turned was "damn that car is fast". kinda made him want to go get his 26000 back from the dealership. just my personal experience:thumb:
 
My dad has a 3G GT with auto/stick w/ aif filter and my gst 5 speed spyder stock smoked it. Now its not even close. Those cars are such a down grade from the turbos. Which do you guys think is a worse down grade... the new rx8 or the 3G. Both are decent cars but just kinda of down grades in my mind.
 
IMO i think the 3rd gen eclipse is a terrible downgrade in my mind. i mean it doesnt look as good as the 2nd gen eclipse, and as for performance :barf: :thumbdown i just dont get what the hell mitsu was thinking there?!? i think the rx8 is sweet looking and its faster than the 3rd gen eclipse. but i agree neither is what the previous gen's were. i love me 1st gen and would never trade for the 3rd. just my opinion
 
As for apperance, I hate those goofy looking fin things on the side of the 3g... what up w/ those? :barf: The only thing I like on the 3g is the interior.
 
i agree with you ...i do like the interior...but for the price...again i like the cockpit style seating in the first gen
 
If you could, would you change anything on the eclipse 1g-2g? If I could change anything it would be to add more freakin cup holders!
 
I faced one about a month ago in my girlfrinds subaru outback, it was pretty funny. And he thought he could race my dsm.

the difference is that the rx-8 is not intended to be a replacement for the rx-7, and isn't being marketed as such.

seriously, if i wanted a FWD v6, i could buy way better cars than the sebring^H^H^H^H^H^H^H eclipse. :D
 
i think mitsu is switching it's efforts to support the EVO program and has pretty much made the eclipse more FandF outside and left everything out the door. I heard the 4g looks more like the 2nd? Anyone know.
 
LOL I test drove a 3g gt (the 2001) and its got 200 hp stock

I raced the same car(2002 tho) in my talon when it was stock
I beat it all over up down left right side to side, those cars are seriously slow, with a turbo and forged internals, they do have potental with slicks of course :_P

OMG thats a sweet car, from what ive seen and been reading its got 2 engines, one internal combustion blah blah blah, and another elctrical engine. I dont know much about the hybrid thing but aparently on the new eclipse the second engine puts power to the back tires and the front one puts power to the front tires, exhaust flow from the V6 under the hood spins a turbine at the back of the car that makes the electricity that powers the rear wheels. Its supposed to have 400 and some HP between both engines and its got power at all 4 wheels but i dont know much about the hybrid thing and dont have any idea how thats gonna perform, and i might be wrong about all of that cause thats just stuff ive seen online. Itll be interesting to see what the actual car will be like, the concept sure is cool, but then again the 3rd gen concept was kick butt 2 and the actual car was not the same story.:rolleyes:
