Me vs. RX-8

Well my friend in my Art History class bought one of the new RX-8 after 1,000 mile to break it in he wanted to race. Well we did it in 2 catogories from a dead stop and a 60mph rolling start. From a dead stop i blew him away by about 2 car lengths around 95mph From the 60 mph rolling start i had him by a 1/2 a car length till 100mph then my T-25 decided to stop pulling and he past me:thumbdown I was going 120 mph when he passed me he said his speedometer was at 129mph. I am pretty impressed from the car i mean it can handle ver well and i know it could do circles around my car. Well its 1-1 and ill challenge him when i get my TDO5H 18G

DOH on the topend :thumbdown While not quite as much of a performer as the RX-7 was, the RX-8 is still more reliable/practical/economical of a car.. still they are faster cars than most out there. And those rotary engines are just plain sweetness.

I raced one three weeks ago up to 60mph, right before my motor blew up (heh, maybe why) at 10psi and made quick work of him woohoo. They lack torque :thumbdown

Another reason you problaby beat him is cuz the rx-8's need to launch really high and the driver problaby didn't know it. Car and driver said for best 0-60, it needed a 8000 rpm launch. Just some info for you guys

I heard some review saying they handle horribly, they are a little slower than a stock gst/gsx but with good driver Im sure they could stick with us. They are a"sports" car, more like a wanna be from what I hear. I guess Ill see when I match up against one.

ummmm no...the car can handle...it does so very well.

Some of you should test-drive one...they really are a sweet car. Yes the rotary does lack torque...but throw a turbo on the bad boy and boost the shit out of it. You'll have a little torque

About that 8000rpm launch...damn...I could understand that you may want to launch high do to the fact it is a high rpm engine with little low end torque...but thats really high. Rev limit is at 9.5 or 10 right? When I drove one I only got it to 9500...hehe only...I would just launch it around 5000-5500 because it really starts to feel more powerful above 6000 (yet it is very linear)

Nice job racing him...and yes...while I'm a fan of the current RX-8 but not a huge fan...if Mazda or anybody really put a turbo on it...I would be seriously considering it for my next car.

Not to say that i know for sure...but rumor has it if the rx8 does well...that they will make a stock twin turbo version of it and call it something...else...just what i have heard.

On the topic of rumors...i ve heard the Evo 9 will have 2 versions a 2.0L like it is now at the price it is now....and then they are makin a 2.4L version with a 20G stock, but will cost around high 40g's but still over 400HP(soooo sick) this is suposed to happen in 2006

yea i have heard that MazdaSpeed is supposed to make a Supercharger version and a Turbocharger version. I believe the supercharger had 20 HP on the Turbo version. Once agian just rumors
