Since when did "track" become synonymous with "drag strip"? A track is a course like Laguna Seca, not a short straight stretch of road. When I see a topic with the word track I always think the post is going to be about, lo and behold, a track. But when I click on it I always see a quater mile time. WTF? If you're talking about drag racing please just use the term strip not track.

Jesus H...split some hairs why don't you. I don't like NASCAR but as a comparison would you call their ovals a "track"? Who cares?

A drag strip is as much of a track as the Nurburgring is. Both are places where cars are raced against each other for the best time. Both are paved. Both are designed as places to test the performance of automobiles. Don't be so critical.

But my question is why not just use the correct term which is "strip"?

Race track.

3. Hence: The act or process of running in competition; a contest of speed in any way, as in running, riding, driving, skating, rowing, sailing; in the plural, usually, a meeting for contests in the running of horses; as, he attended the races.

what you are thinking of is a race course.

what you are thinking of is a race course.

What he is thinking of is more correctly called a circuit. But what the hell...quit complaining. People in the south say a soda is a "Coke" whether its a Coca-Cola or not. Are you pissed off at the entire south, too? A track is a track is a track. A circuit is a track is a strip. Cars go fast on all of them. Just my .02
