ok well i was running an errand at work today and this porsche 944 is comin up behind me at a light, he's about to pull behind me but at the last minute he lines up next to me...oh well whatever, anyway light turns green i just start goin like normal shift into second almost through the intersection... and the guy floors it! bastard!! so i stand on it and catch up to him pretty good in second and even it out, then hit third on slowly start pullin on him, i got a bout a half car in front of him before he shut it down... it was pretty f-in close, i think i coulda taken him better if he didnt start before me (duh). this car was pimp though. it at least had exhaust. the paint was beautiful. i tried to give him a thumbs up, bastard wouldnt even look at me! i dunno this is probably like "big f-in deal" to you guys, but hey im a noob, my car is pretty much stock and i've only had it a few months :p

Good Work.. however 944's are like the slowest Porsches out there. Don't ever expect those guys to acknowledge you, especially after a spanking. With a few more Mods you can play with the mildly modified 944's all day. (in a straight line) Hence the reason reeled him in w/a mostly stock DSM. I wouldn't go shootin for a 911 just yet. But you should be able to walk the hell out of the N /A Carrera's and other 944's.
I tried to run with a 911t once and got my ass handed to me after 3rd gear.

haha, yeah as soon as i got back to work i looked up 944's online.... ok so i guess they arent all that fast but hey, it sounds cooler to say "i beat a porsche" than "i beat a honda" ..... and defiant... if you're saying that meaning - "enjoy your car while you can before hitting the modifiers money pit curse" im with you on that. i got WAY too much stuff goin on with the s10 in the next few months to risk f*cking up the laser

hey he must have been a turbo 944, or you would have truly owned him. the NA ones are only 155 hp. Yea thats right.

So good job to you, especially after you had to play catchup :)

He won't look over, especially if he saw that you were a Laser, those guys would probalby shoot themselves if another Porsche guy saw that :)

Porsche guys are soo stuck up there asses its funny...thats cool that you beat him...but you should have. And no...I don't think it was a turbo one...the turbo 944's are pretty quick and a stock/ mostly stock DSM can't beat one...and if you were playing catch-up...it was most likely N/A

944s are more known for their handling than their horsepower...thats basically what they are for.

944s are beautiful cars and whoever said they're the slowest Porsche's out there is dead wrong i.e. 914 + 924. I think Turbo 944s run 13.9 stock, but with almost 20 years of wear and tear on an old Porsche motor it's a lot more. I wanted one for the longest time. If anyone ever considers buying one look for a 1988 Turbo S, they are superfast and great AutoCross cars, extremely rare though. Just my thoughts...

88 Turbo S might just be the best street car out there in terms of all around performance. Rare and costly to mod, but damn they handle, go, good top speed, look nice etc.

As for the 924, those in their turbo form(931) could be the bargain of the century. If you can find one in good shape, they are VERY good platforms for a serious performance machine. Better drag co-efficient than even the 944, very light, non-interference valve train, simple fuel system, ideal weight(rear tranny), and when the boost is upped, and a good exhaust system is installed they make more than modest power especially for the weight.

I bought my Talon after I couldnt find a good 931, and I love the AWD and the 4G63 for sure, but a nice 81 931 is a very nice car.

Yeah those things were pretty sweet looking cars back in the day. Actually, if I had the extra cash to buy an older rear drive 2 seat sports car I'd probably get the 88-89 RX-7 TurboII. They look alot like the 944's.
