My local track is hosting a SCC Race based on NHRA rules/classes.
Perusing the NHRA Rulebook the two classes I'd be eligible (without being whooped to badly OMG ) is the ET and Sport RWD classes. Unfortunately Computers are Prohibited in these two classes per NHRA general rule 9:1...
Except those computers installed on stock vehicles by the new-vehicle manufacturers for the proper operation of such vehicles, no vehicles may be equipped with computers that in any way affect the operation of the vehicle. Per Class Requirements, OEM or OEM-type electronic fuel injection permitted. All related wiring, sensors, etc. must be identifiable to the tech inspector. A computer is defined as any device (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.) that activates any function of, or in any way affects the operation of, the vehicle based on measurement, sensing, processing, etc. of any data related to the performance of the vehicle. Display or transmission of any data gathered or processed to the driver or any remote location, prohibited

Does this mean no S-AFCs, VPCs or other air/fuel controllers?

MAN THATS RETARTED!!! thats what i got out of it too, no tuning tools...pfft leave the NHRA for the dinosaurs I say...

dsmlink wooohooo, its only cheating if you get caught right? I am all talk though I have never even seen a drag strip mabey some day when the car decides its ready to leave its comfy jack stands

I guess the Ramcharger's MAFT unit would fall into the "prohibited" catagory too as it has a built in AFC.

At least the TMO Datalogger /Pocket Logger's are allowed as they do not affect the input/outputs to the CPU.

Well.. I think for $300 in prize money (local race) they won't be looking too hard. So my S-AFC will just stay mounted in the glovebox :shhh:

Rather spectate than run my slow-azz car in the Pro Catagories.

Posted this question to Rick Canning of the NHRA.. his response(s):

In regards to your question. it is acceptable to add a chip to the
original computer to help with tuning.

When I probed further into their definition of "Chip":

In regards to your question. it is acceptable to use VPC, Super -AFC or MAFT

I think this rule was specifically designed to weed out real-time telemetry setups and complete stand-alones.
