well my friend is getting a type R faily soon (probably a week or 2) and he wants to race me once he gets it. i am completly stock and same goes with him. taken if we were both equaly skilled drivers. who do you think will win? Also by the time he gets the car though i wil probably have a few free mods done like, choping up the air box. the mas sensor. cleaning the intake. and possibly the BCS mod. just tell me waht you think thanks bye:)

Just race him. If he doesn't even have the car, yer dumb as hell for bringing this up. Stop being a pu$$ey!

I have a 96 GST with a brandnew turbo and i raced 2 type R's and got smoked by both of them so im thinking that you will probably get beat.

Its all going to depend on your launch. The Type R is a quick car from a roll on and the GSX in stock trim is a dog from a roll on so make sure you get him pretty good off the line otherwise your gonna be seeing his tail lights.

hmm.. i raced a type r on the freeway.. i got him pretty good on the top end.. was in 4th gear and just stayed there.. by the time i redlined 4th i already had him.. then we went on a 3rd gear roll.. but my rpms were already at 5k.. and on this run he got me.. (i did a wrong thing by holding it close to redline with the t25).. we talked and he admitted he was flooring it on the first 4th gear pull we did when i walked him.. as he said.. "i saw u coming and u were gone" mite be a different situation for gsx.. but if u race him afrom a stop.. just make sure u have a good launch so he has to make up a lot..

when i ran the R i had the mods i have in my profile.. (stock t25)
WEclipz420JuizD so i dont know how uc ould lose if u had an upgraded turbo..

i raced my friend and he has a type r we went from a second gear roll and he pulled on me in his third gear. i was completely stock and he had CAI and greddy evo catback and cam gears. we mess around on the highway and when we are starting from a 70 mph roll (thats the speed limit over here) he would drop it into 4th and i would keep it in fifth and i would pull away some and he would stay half a car behind me till about 130

well i dont know about spyders but my tsi with just the free mods 16psi and my godlike driving:rolleyes: i walked 2 type rs in from a stop i basically didnt screw up on my launch and my turbo just pulled in front in 2nd gear and just kept it all the way through.... basically American type rs run general 14.7 to 14.9s with good drivers... but as for the type rs being good competetors that i agree with as for being beat by a stock one highly unlikely unless you have some problems driving or somethings not right on your car... i also was runnng premium 93 octane if that makes a huge difference from 91 .? the drivers of one of the type rs is my friend and i know for a fact he can drive so something must not be right on your ... average stock dsms run mid low 14s with free mods and a couple of lbs of psi:thumb: btw the first one i was 1 1/2 length in front and my friends type r was only a length behind me but we raced many times same outcome they are not that far behind so if you do mess up one small detail in driving you WILL lose.. this has just been my experience so maybe where ever you guys live and car conditions make up for watever it is your missing..OMG

Well first you should convince your poor lost friend that DSM is the way to go. Anyways there's about 5 type R's around my hood and all had suffer defeat by me i have a gst and i still smoke any honda left and right. Don't you have a gsx? You'll smoke em off the line just let your turbo spool up right and his V-TEC should get a whif of your exhaust fumes.

Take the air box off and put a filter on it (K&N would be my 1st choice) but my Made In China air filter really makes a lot of noise when I floor it compared to the stock air box. You might get 1hp gain if that heh, but it will intimidate.

Well I had a friend with a yellow type r, he said the yellow ones were faster. Is that true? Something with the way the sunlight reflects off the car.

yeah my buddy has a yellow integra type R, and all i have to say is those suckers are fast! GSX you might have a good chance of winning but if he knows how to drive it then he'll beat you. They run a 14.7 stock so you probably won't win but give it a try...

The last time I was at Lebanon Valley Dragway, there was a Type R there that was running against me all day. The driver was cool, and we both had a lot of fun. I think we got like 12 runs in. Now, at the time, my throttle plate was only opening up 50%, my clutch was slipping, and it was 100 Degrees out. My best run of the day was a 15.5. His was a 15.1. Most stock GSX's/TSI AWD's run about 14.9-15.2. He wasn't the best driver, in fact, his friend got the 15.1. So, I would say, stock for stock, it's going to come down to the driver, but the better car is the Type-R. If you remove your BCS restrictor, put in an intake, and replace your BOV, it's a whole different story. The Type-R woudn't know what hit it. Needless to say, it's a REALLY fun race. Almost as much fun as smoking 4.6 Mustangs.

P.S. Race at the track. Better times had by all.

Later,
Matt.

I have seen a 14.5 in stock form from a 2000 ITR, but the guy had made plenty of passes in his car previously and knew what he was doing. The avg. for an ITR seems to be 14.7-14.8. Their 3rd gear is ... well all you can say is DAMN.
