dsm vs vw...

hey i got my 97 eclipse gs about a month ago, its bone stock except its lowered 2" which doesnt make my car any modded but i just thought i'd say it cuz im pretty ripped right now and i cant remember what i was talkin about..o yeah.....who would win, my friend just got a VW GTI 2.0 non turbo non-v6...his is bone stock, who would win do u think?

You'll take him. I had problems with a 97 VR6 stock but I got him at the end and I'm automatic.

You should beat the 2.0 in theory but it would likely come right down to the launch. I had a VR6 and had no problem beating guys in Turbo AWD dsm's in my car, but it takes some work and a few bucks. THey always thought they would take me outta the hole but I could pull low 1.8's FWD in my GTi so it wasn't a problem.

when I think of vw's I think it would be fun to boost the #### out of a turbo golf. Throw a big ass turbo on it, big exhaust, some suspension, keep the dope stock rims, and just basically do the same things I did with my gs-T.

Coming from a VW background, I would say it depends on the driver. I really don't know what you run stock, but a 2.0 Golf would be very capable of mid 16's stock with an average driver. I know a guy who did 15.9 in a MK3 Jetta with chip and exhaust and the Jetta is heavier. I had a 98 GTI VR6 and did a 14.9 w/ just a chip and suspension.
