Ive been getting so much mixed information about my traction problems. I have a fwd, putting an act 2600 with a street disk from a local clutch shop, and ill have 4 prothane mounts. What would be best, slicks or drag radials. Ive heard with slicks you have to pop the clutch and go or you will burn your clutch up by slipping it with slicks.

I also heard drag radials will hop really bad and im not looking to do that. What are my options, i need better 60 foots so i can break into the 13s.

You could just slip the clutch with slicks but that would defeat teh benefits of having slicks over just dr's or street radials. Just rev the car to 5k and dump the clutch your axels won't exaclty like you but they don't hop at all and you will for sure pull sub 2.0 60fts. As for drag radials all my friends with fbodies run them daily and they never have any wheel hop problems at the track, they do have some traction issues but no wheel hop problems. And since you have all 4 prothane mounts you shouldn't hve a problem at all. I have only the front and rear and even with low pro street tires I don't have wheel hop problems. I say go slicks only because you will have to buy a seperate set of rims for track use only regardless of what set up you decide to go with seeing that they don't make dr's in our tire size so the benefits of slicks would be all the more aparent.

What about the same setup on some retread tires?

I have no idea, I heard they are pretty much the same thing as dr's and they do come in our size which is nice, so once my current tires are done for am will be trying out the retread route for my daily tires and slicks at the track and see how it goes.
