9 second 3065!!!

Finaly hit the single digit times Saturday with a 9.99 @ 141. This was at Tulsa raceway park in Oklahoma. The car is a 90 TSI with .020 over fully built short block, stage 3 head, FP3065, 272's, forrester intake, good old VPC and a 50 shot of NOS. I have several videos of the run and a picture of the time slip that I will put up soon. I know I dont post here much but I just wanted to let everyone know that there is another nine second DSM out there.

Awesome! My 3065 had bearing failure and I was thinking of going bigger when I had it rebuilt but you proved to me that its not needed. How much psi were you running? I assume you were on C16, is that correct? Im not familiar with the VPC but I think it uses a map rather than a maf, does it still utilize stock timing map's? If so Im assuming you were getting 22-24 degrees of advance. What plugs do you run? Are you on stock coils? Also please post a full mod list and bring on the pics and videos!!

Congrats!

This is brett isn't it! I've seen this car in person on the STREETS. It is EVIL.

By the way are you going to be at the import face off at KCIR. And if so would you mind not competing in the street tire class?

One more question, were you spraying to spool up or using it the whole run? On a momentary or a wot switch?

Hey JohnTsi, how much timing advance have you run and what type of times. In case you havent yet noticed im trying to take in as much info as possible to aid me in tuning my 3065 beast.

That would be me. I am not going to make it, my son has a sub state football game in Hays on Sunday but I am going to try and make it to Mokan on the 30th.
Here is some more info on the car: The boost was straight up 30 psi, the fuel was phillips B-32, the full advance is right at 24 on the logger. I run NGK br8es plugs with the stock coils and a kenny bell boost a spark box. The nitrous kit is a compucar wet kit that is on a full throttle switch and it takes ALL the lag out of the gear changes as well as instant spool off the line.

Thanks for the info Brett,

As for my car it has only made one trip to the track so far on the way there i didn't relieze I had split the FMIC only ran a 11.7@125 with a 2.0 60. Car was running liek total hell later found out I had split the IC and that was the problem. But the clutch had started slipping at the topp of the gears too, turned out to be a leaking trans input shaft seal. Problems fixed car will be going back to the track the begining of the month. Previous runs where made at 26PSI no spray, will be running 30 and a 50 shot as well next trip. Was meaning to run more befor but after the IC split car was having too many problems that day. Timing advance was at 20 picked up 5 mph going from 18-20 that day in a couple passes even with all the problems the car was having. Cannot wait to get back to the track.

Great time! Makes me want a 3065 even more. How is that turbo on the street? I am debating getting rid of my 3052 in favor of the 65.

Props to your 9-pass and the most wicked looking 1g Ive seen yet. I tried the big tires but they hit the struts on the front end. Any word on how your doing it? BTW how fast is/was the 89 LX?

I have the DSS coil over kit that takes the perches off the strut, the tire clears by a bunch with them out of the way.
The 89 ran high 8's 6 years ago, it was a stock suspension, 10.5 tire car with a vortech J trim supercharger on it.
I updated my photo gallery with pics of the car and time slip last night so check em out.

Funny you should ask. We were talking about that the other day, the jetting in the nozzle is the same as it was on a mustang which the kit was designed for at 39 psi. I thought about going with a small fuel jet to make up for the higher pressure I see under boost, it works so I guess I will leave it alone for now.

Nice sleeper you got there! Were still waiting for some vids!

Also I remember your screenname from the video about a year ago that had a white laser with an L2R walking an LS1, was that your car also?
