I went to the track a couple of days ago for my first time, and I don't think I did so well. I had just gotten on a new clutch a week before, and just finished the break in period on the drive there. I was having serious trouble launching the first couple of times and pulled 13.7 at 102* not positive on the trap speed. Every run thereafter I dropped 1/10th on my E.T., and gained about another mph trap. When I told people what I was running they said thats good for your first time at the track. Then I started getting really good launches. And when I went to get my timeslip I saw I was still only pulling between 1.9-2.0. I thought they were really good launches, but I guess not. My last run of the day I ran a 13.2 @ 106, with a 60' of 1.9. Now I realize your first time at the track you're not going to do all that well, but with everybody telling me my car could pull mid 12's, and only going low 13's I was dissapointed. I'm sure everyone says this, but I consider myself a decent driver. What do you guys think. Any tips or comments would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If that's on pump gas it's a good time...and also it's nice to get the experience of going to the track. A low 13 is a very good time for your first time out :thumb:

EVERYONE says this

You definitely shouldnt be disappointed :) My first time out, after MANY runs I got down to a 13.8 on pump gas. Next week I managed a 13.5 with the same mods. Now I'm down to my current time on race gas :)

Street and strip are two entirely different things. It just takes time at the strip to really find what works. Its just all about practice there.

Your time is great if i saw things correctly you dynoed at 276whp @ 20psi thats is exactly correct now if you use that exact setup. and Use Get a front mount IC. You will see 310+whp and that would get you mid 12s with a good launch. Other than that your times a very good and your hp numbers look average for your setup. you could squeeze more out with more tuning.

There were a couple of guys at the track with a small 16g running 12.5 - 12.9. I don't know if that is all just in the driving but I seemed to have more mods than them other than a front mount. The sidemount I have is the absolute biggest I could find ( something like 9.5" x 10" x 5" thick) and was tested and shown that it flows and cools better than your average front mount. So I don't think a front mount would help all to much. Just another question too. When shifting from 1-2 or 2-3 and so on should I be dropping the clutch, or slipping it a little. Twice, I noticed on my 1-2 shift I chirped at least one tire. Do you think my revs might be dropping too much. I actually slipped a little by mistake on a 2-3 shift on the street and it seemed to take off quicker. Is this bad. I have never heard of anyone doing this. Any comments would be great.

106 mph is a good trap. Even with FMIC, I don't think you would get much more mph on pump gas.
