ran into a new (no license plate) g35 coupe w/ some nice rims.
we started on a roll about 15mph, he had a head start of about 1/2car.
by mid third i was pulling on him by a 1/2, his hood was started to fade away from my window. :D

i havent even started boosting over stock yet :shhh: although im sure w/my mods im boosting a pound or 2 above stock.

:dsm:

i raced one i know it had an exhaust and SSR Competiton (looked like 18's which wieght only 15lbs) from a roll. I had him to top of 3rd by forth he started to creep on me, then traffic wa getting to close so we brake. They are very quick, nice cars if i had money for a new car that would be my second choice RX8 is my favorite new car followed by the G35 :dsm:

thanks for sharing your exp on g35coupes :thumb:

my choice in car would be 350z (little cheaper and faster), but gotta give the g35coupe some credit for its slick body and interior options

i used to be all over the rx-8, i was actually reading the mazda forums and mags for, but i let that thing go after i been to the dealer a few times. thing is too big too tall, and too weak for its class. im all for rotary too.. but not this one.. for the price im for evo viii all the way or the 350z for some coupe look.

Dont get me wrong sounds like a good run but... he should have smoked you all around. Those cars are 260 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 260 lb-ft @ 4,800 rpm. The only thing you had on your side is weight... Also he must suck are driving-

i duno, i thought i was making some good hp.. maybe not 260, but around there i was hoping....
my mods: intake, upic, bov, ngk7es, ported evoiii o2housing, 3"dp, 3"testpipe, 3"testback, 17"volks gtn w/yokahma prada spec-2, kyb agx w/eibach sportlines. autometer boost, a/f gauge not installed yet, waiting on pillar pod and boost controller.

i knew that they have 260+, but i thought i would be worth a race.. then again maybe im wrong...

So you have an intake and exhaust... Those cars are quick bro, I have had a few runs with them...

Either way good run a win is a win... but if you switched drivers I am sure the outcome would change

yeah - im assuming the guy was a noob, he had no license plate. so must be new in driving manual. also i dont know if even had his car broken in. thanks for your exp on g35coupes. :thumb:

I raced a 350Z the other night from a third gear roll. I punched it at about 3.5K (didnt feel like downshifting). I started to pull on him by the top of 3rd and then I let off. We met at a light that was slightly uphill. Thats were my GS-T showed its true colors. Off the line he left me pretty good as I had zero traction.

I rolled on a 350z from a second gear roll he keept up with me through 2nd but once I hit third I pulled a car on him and I am still on the t25.

I can actually believe this one...with the modfs you have you should easily take him on the top. they run 14.0 in the faster 350z form...the g35 with more weight and a little less power would do 14.2 or so. With mods and the natural top end of a turbo car Im actuall suprised you didnt get a little more room on him but oh well.

The 350zx I am talking about had espiler cat-back and injen CAI. so it had a little more power than stock he told me he ran a 13.6 at the track.

It is actually an invidia ext. not espiler.

Watch for the 4-door G35's now, they are now made with AWD. OMG

my friend has a 350 w/ the sport-shift, every night we get out of work we go race, and from a stop he pulls on me like a bat out of hell (me= no traction, him= traction control), but from a roll, 20, 35, 45, 60mph roll i F!@#ing kill him. i pull nasty, till i hit governor at 135; then he just fly-by by me. i raced him at stock boost, and at 18psi, at stock, i still pull hard. he's car is stock, and i have I,E,DP,264-272,T-2small :p  ,MBC,Boost gauge and that's about it. ralisticly(spell) my car might be pushing 200hp, and he's about 230ish.

Listen the 350z is a nice car. But when it comes to it it's not worth it 5 month's ago when my friends's 350 only hads a intake my car only had a bcs mod done and thats it's even with the leaky stock bov when it came came down to a street race are firsdt race. I hooked perfectly and he spined and by second it was over i was out. but when i raced again adn he hooked i had him till 3rd like everyone else said .but not to bring only bad new's .as soon as i had a full 3 inch from turbo down with a controler and some other misc mod;s done i saw him again . And guess what?. off the line i smoked him and from there my new found power destroyed him he was so done that he turned of after the race haha Power to the dsm :talon:

Yeah, had the same experience with one. I actually sell Nissans and a buddy of mine bought one. He traded in a six-speed ram-air Firebird and has been racing as long as I have (10 yrs.). We raced from a stop and i did not launch hard at all. Had over a car on him until midway through third and he started pulling on me. Would have easily beaten him in the quarter and all I have done to my car are the free mods. Nothing aftermarket what-so-ever.

Story about G35 and 350z...

G35s are slower than 350zs because they are heavier, fact stated.

Story,

When I had my T-25 a turbo back, Intake and BOV on my GST I beat my friend's 350z that was stock. My friend is pretty good at driving, I beat him around 2 car lengths... This is from a STOP... but then again I consider my car modded and he wasn't. Also consider his car runs like low 14s stock... And we run like mid 14s stock... So its a very close race when modded. But when 350zs are modded heavily they are beasts.

350z or g35....i smoked them both with a t25 @18psi and exhaust and intake mods so i think they r very slow. :thumbdown
