Ok heres the question will my catalytic converter going bad afect my boost cus it just went bad and its not boosting correctly or not at all at times and was wondering if that would b the cause this started after th catalytic converter went bad. Its a 97 gst

Aside from the car not boosting correctly or not at all at times, what makes you think the catalytic converter has gone bad? This could be a boost leak issue, very common, have you already done a boost leak test?

I would check the the wastegate flapper door to make sure it is moving okay and closing all the way without any binding or anything like that. You can remove the wastegate actuator rod from the flapper door lever and it should move freely by hand. If it were not closing all the way it could give you a symptom of little to no boost like you are experiencing.;)

If that checks out okay I would then proceed to do a boost leak test.

Well the check engine light came on it said it was the catalytic converter also I can hear it crakl alot and when I floor it it sounds like a boost leak but its comig from the catso I asume thats my problem

My cat went out a few weeks ago and wouldnt let me get past 5psi. Broke apart inside into a few large pieces and actually turned sideways. Also make a racket everytime i turned the car off. They are fairly cheap and not too difficult to replace if you have the tools.
