4g63 swap into NEON, possible?

A friend of mine has a 97 dodge neon and is wondering if it would be possible to swap in a 1g 4g63 fwd engine. Does anyone know where i can get infromation about this? Thanks!

I am actually on the neon message board. I have a turbo charged neon in the works (not a 4g63). It would be possible, but very exspensive. For the same price or less you could turbo the neon. Try www.neons.org really good site for info on the neon. Take it from expierence, if you are dead set on turbo, get a turbo car to begin with.

Ive seen it done but you are going to need some heavy modification. I used to own a 94 ACR and i have a buddy with a 98 with the swap its cost him like 5 grand

Anything is possible just depends on how much you wanna spend. A much cheaper and easier route is putting in a 2.4 from a stratus or the likes with SRT-4 internals. My friend with a 98 neon is just about finished building his. He has a total of about $1000 in his and thats a motor that can handle plenty of power.

You can do it. It would take some fabrication, wiring, plumbing, sawing, chopping, welding, swearing, praying, cursing, screaming, yelling, punching, kicking, bending, soldiering, and about 25 other words, but yea... you CAN do it.

yes it would be possible. question is, is it reasonable?

my answer is no, you might as well buy an SRT4, itll be cheaper in the long run

HOWEVER if you just want to be diffrent, and really really like 4g63s your best bet would be to get a complete donor car and use the whole front subframe. you would remove and cut out the neons front clip, and then you would weld a subframe and mounts onto the neon. fuel and wiring should be the easy point on this swap ha.

i have a major SRT4 friend, and we have talked about this concept...He has said that it could be done, with a huge amount of money, time, etc etc...basically under the point of anything is possible.


its much easier to do the srt4 swap...


....has anyone seen an srt4 swap into a 420a eclipse...?? that would be a cool project, if your into it
