Hey. So i put A 6 bolt swap in my 2g car,
Well it doesn't start for some odd reason. I went to Road Race.com and bought the 1g/2g harness for my 1995 Eagle talon tsi awd .
Bought the black top C.A.S and put it in tried to start it and all it would give me was a little crank over about 250 rpm and would just stop.
So I took the cas out turned it 180 around and it did NOTHING i'm out of ideas.
Will somebody try to explain what I am doing wrong ?:cry:
"7 bolt head. 6 bolt 2.3 stroke short block".
 
If you are using the 7 bolt head I think you don't need the 1g/2g harness you use all the same sensors but I am not 100% positive.

I don't want to spread bad info here, but it sounds to me that if you re used a 7 bolt head that you should be able to run all the stock 2g stuff and be ok. I would try that.

That 1g Cas still should run the the car if its wired correctly so I would just double check on the RRE site.

Have you check for spark and injector pulse?
 
I think 6bolts did not have a crank sensor, they got there signal from the cas, but if its a weak crank it might be that your battary is low, with the harness there should be no wireing problem.
 
I have spark i was on the phone with Road Race they told me hoe to wire it in i don't know if it helps but i have a eprom ecu, black top 1g cas, and the harness from road race . All I get is about 250 rpm and a back fire i tried all 2g stuff but it did not work. so i did some looking and people said I need the 1g cas and wire harness so I got it hooked it up and this is were i'm lost now.:confused:

Did you swap the plug wires?

If you are using the 7 bolt head I think you don't need the 1g/2g harness you use all the same sensors but I am not 100% positive.

It's more to do with what sensor(s) you use, regardless of the head. A 1G CAS requires the adapter harness or a hard wire into the 2G harness.

A 6-bolt block doesn't have provisions to bolt up a 2G crank sensor unless it has the Hyundai 6-bolt front cover/oil pump.

Again, check the plug wires: swapplugwires [ECMTuning - wiki].

The injector wires aren't causing the no start; you need to swap the spark plug wires.

Now when I try to start it i get A grinding sound very bad grinding. could that be my starter? And what do you mean by ingectors i have to move around the wires?
I also did the spark plug wires and nothing happened.
 
When i put in my 1G cas for the 98 ecu my car would pretty much die after 1 or 2 seconds of idle @300rpm ish, i tried flipping the wires around for injectors and for the plugs, nothing helped.

once i reverted everything back to normal with the 1G cas still installed then trew in the 98 ecu it fired right up and ran perfect.

if you have ecmlink there is the option to check 1g in a 2g or something along those lines (i do not have ecmlink yet) or you will have to put a 97 and up (preferably 98 to 99 so you can have flashing capabilities or just get link) ecu into your car. this is one of those issues that there seams to be no answer thant works for everyone.

I had to take my car to the shop yesterday he got it to fire up but my light weight fly wheel is junk he said and i don't under stand how because the car was never driven and 2. it was brand new i'm like :cry: and I am getting a loud grind noise now when you try to start it i have no idea what is wrong.
Now my bill for it is all ready 273 for a toe and 4 hours of work.:ohdamn:
 
he might have got it running but rev it to 3000 i bet it will start to shake the whole car. that how mine acted.

as for the grinding it might be the starter the gear isnt fully popping out or retracting from old clutch dust built up on it. mine did this when the starter was on the way out, i whacked it with a tire iron so i could get home LOL. i noticed in your profile it says a zoom clutch...is that the brand? never heard if it before. wonder if one of the springs fell out of the clutch or something along those lines.
 
it is a zoom clutch its a name brand one to in fact and i replaced the clutch but not the bearing and now my brand new fadanza light weight fly wheel is junk because of this it is like if there is a load on it the starter will "skip" and cause it to mess up the fly wheel but i have no idea how to fix this problem.
