Solid Lifter Conversion - Tell me about them

Hey, I was just wondering if someone here can help me understand the pros & cons of going with a BLE solid lifter conversion kit versus the revised 3g lifters. Any insight is greatly apreceated!

con is you have to sit there and spens more time on adjusting them in sted of priming then and them in

Pros: They wont "fail"

Cons: They are a PITA to adjust, they are loud, they continually need adjusted, i have seen them on MANY occasions throw rockers off...etc.


Unless in a full balls out race car revving to 11k and as fast as a 2 stroke i would never reccomend them. The fastst guys out there are running hydraulic lifters. Only problem with 3g lifters is if you rev too fast and to high they bleed out causing a loss of power till they pump back up...but there is an easy solution to that .

from my perspective (from the evidence in the link, thanks defiant), our heads put too much lateral force on a solid lifter.... I think solid lifters could be useful if the rockers were re-engineered, and same with the available solid lifters.

I'm not sure we have much use for them since we don't have the kind of lifter travel that other hyd lifter heads have. In fact, that's why I rather call our lifters lash adjusters, since they aren't very dependent on moving fluid to push the valves.

wouldn't it make more sense to modify some 1st design lifters to have a smaller hole?
