Once again the car screws me over....

Blew my head gasket a month ago (car would overheat if I hit boost... pushing coolant). So I decided it was a good time to do a 1g Headswap.

For the record I have a T3/To4E Turbo, SFP Manfi, and short route IC Pipes.

Here's the problem:
I knew I'd have to dent the #### out of the 1g water pipe (got one for a turbo 1g, with water/oil cooler), but now the problem is that the compressor housing is hitting the fitting on the water line for the "turbo water feed". I've beat the hell out of the pipe/fitting... and I don't think it will budge anymore. Infact I beleive the fitting is now hitting the fitting in my block that is blocking the stock water feed line.

I was thinking that it would be sweet if I could get my hands on a 2.0 4g63 Non Turbo water pipe that was setup for a water/oil cooler, but I have since been informed that the part I imagine never made production.

So, I'm really open to suggestions at this point.

Spacer is not an option, Downpipe and everything have been custom made to fit this turbo, and I am NOT able to get everything "adjusted".

Something I was wondering though, how realistic would it be to get a water pipe for a Non Turbo 4g63, and having someone weld on a fitting for the oil cooler's water supply to it? I know our welder at work wouldn't want to do it (doesn't like the liability of a possible water leak).

-Plug the water return boss on the block with a bolt.
-Bend the feed line till its out of the way and connect it with 3/8" rubber braided lines.
-T-in the turbo return line to the oil cooler return line.

Problem solved.

This turbo is oil cooled only..... the water line on the block has been plugged for a year now :)

I don't need the water fitting on the pipe..... but I can't find a 1g pipe that has the oil cooler return line nipples on it that isnt for a turbo 4g63... all the NT's seem to be lacking an oil cooler.

Ahhh.

You can still T-in to the water return line from the water cooler. You are just creating a side loop for the water to travel. It will always travel from the water neck into the pump.

Although that probably doesn't help if the housing is wacking the nipple. Big comp housing.

i had to find a nonturbo 1g water pipe, it has no water fitting in that area and will work perfectly

MMM...change oil coolers? Seems obvious to me. Go with a liquid to air from summit instead of the stock liquid/liquid.

Problem with doing that is $$$$....

I'd have to spend $90 to buy the oil housing that is air/oil cool based, add on a oil cooler and lines... and your up to $300 almost instantly.

I don't have $300 sitting around right now..... figures I have this problem after the AEM/AGX's/1g Head are all paid for...

I did mine for $150.

Well... I found a good deal on the oil cooler housing to convert it......

what kind of lines did you use from the oil filter housing to the oil cooler? where/what kind of cooler did you use?

BM Tranny cooler from Summit.
-8AN Braided lines
-2 Aeroqup 90 degree swivel hose fittings (Cooler side)
-2 NPT-AN straight adaptors for the cooler
-2 M14x1.5 to AN straight adaptors for housing
-2 straight swivel hose ends (housing side)

All from summit. I have pictures at home and awill attach them when I get back.

Alright... that'll definately be my backup plan....

Right now I'll have an NT water pipe tomarrow... having a shop weld in a "bung" for the water return from the oil cooler.

For the record, we ended up ordering a 1g 2.0 NT water pipe, and welding a fitting on it for the water/oil cooler....

Head is on, driving the car around everything appears to be fine...... finally some good news.

For a 1G, you want a 90 filter housing (~$60 from Conicelli) and for a 2G you want an EVO filter housing (also available from Conicelli). I got metric to AN adapters for the filter housing, -10 SS line, and a Setrab oil cooler. Pics of my setup can be found here (last 3 pics):
