well I got a 1g intake manifold and throttle body for VERY cheap, yet I still have the stock 2g head. I plan on putting in hk$ 272s but I want to at least make the intake manifold fit on the 2g head. I know, I know, I have heard it a million times ... the 1g head is better. The things is I have these parts laying around and they have been hard to sell so I want to just put the 1g intake manifold on the 2g head. I took the head off and I see all the bolts line up but the runners are much smaller on the head. Has anyone ported the 2g head enough to match it up with the intake manifold? Are there coolant pockets that run around the runners or am I safe to port away? Is there enough room to basically match it up with the 1g intake manifold or will I run out of material towards the bottom of the head? Anyone that has done this or attempted this could help me out here by letting me know the pros and cons. NO I DON'T WANT TO JUST GET A 1G HEAD UNLESS YOU WANT TO BUY IT FOR ME. Thanks. :thumb:

The runners don't match period. Since you don't want to get a 1G head you can have your stock 2G intake manifold extrude honed. The 1G manifold will bolt up to the 2G head but then you would have to remove material not only on the port openings but also off the inside the head where the valves are and that would require pulling the head and removing the valves to get a proper port job. If I were you I would just leave it alone. You time and effort is prob. better spent on other items.

I dont know if I would go quite that far, there are a few people here who have run a 1g intake mani on a 2g head with just gasket matching. not to say that there is a huge preformance gain just that it can be done. I think that screen name of one who did run this set up was larryd. the 2g head flows better but the 1g head flows more its a toss up between low end tq and top end hp respectively
